Clark Terry - Everything's Mellow, on Moodsville, 1961
Dmitry replied to Dmitry's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
Life is funny sometimes. Yesterday I scored a Status pressing of this album in what looks like beautiful shape. If you have a decent stereo sustem and want to show your friends why you poured al that money into it instead of a new car, sit them down and play this record for them. If they still don't understand - never mention music in their presence again. You will only get frustrated and will possibly lose otherwise perfectly good friends. -
Curious - what was the procedure for issuing records from the US labels in Canada? Did the American headquarters send the original master tapes to the Canadian pressing plants or did they send copies of the original tapes? Consequently, are there sonic differences between the US and Canadian pressings?

Jim, looks like it is an original IC release. Just checked with the jazzdisco.org Archie Shepp - Doodlin' (Inner City IC 1001) Alan Shorter (flh) Archie Shepp (p) Bob Reid (b) Muhammad Ali (d) Paris, France, November, 1970 Sweet Georgia Brown Doodlin' Invitation Worried About You If You Could See Me Now More Than You Know Coral Rock LP was released in 1976. I guess he sold them the tapes. I can't open that discography page.

I know Inner City primarily as a US-based reissue label for the SteepleChase and Enja LPs, and other European labels. Today I bought this Archie Shepp record - Doodlin'. It bears catalogue #IC 1001, which makes me specualte that this was the first IC record to be released, and not a reissue of another label. Which other IC records were original releases? What info do we have on the label itself? Who ran it, when and why did it perish, etc.? This has Alan Shorter on it.

...run to your turntable, lock the door, and play this monster. Yeah, I've heard some Breau before and I totally dug what I heard, but this one is truly a small gem. You might say - so what, but after you've heard him walk on water through the Bluesette, you'll become an instant convert to the Shrine of Lenny. How he did what he did is beyond my mortal comprehension. What a sad loss...

Picked up this deep groove LP last week. Even though the LP regretably is only VG with surface noise, the music more than makes up for it. RVG's recording is nothing short of breath-taking. This is a perfect record. Superb. Amazing. If I were a girl I'd cry, but being that I am a grown man after I post this I'm going downstairs to open a bottle of vino to celebrate with my new pals Clark Terry, Junior Mance, Joe Benjamin and Charlie Persip. Na Zdorovje!

A friendly epistle from jazz_jazz_jazz Hi Dmitry, Thanks for your mail and update. Wow the LP got to you so quick! That’s great. No worries about the return. All my items are guaranteed 100% for any reason. I would be glad to have the LP back here in the archives again. Just a friendly seller here. As another option I also offer 50% refund if you would like to keep the item. Please have a nice day/evening and thanks for keeping me on radar. I just got in some great pieces and will be posting them ASAP. Hope one can make it to your fine home. Best, Paul ...... Yeah, like I'll be buying from him again. No wonder almost noone else bid on this DG West 63rd Street mono in NM untouched condition. I should've known better.

Why is this a horrible song? I think it's quite nice. If we are just talking about ANY pop songs made into jazz, then -- Rahsaan - YOU ARE THE SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE Bill Evans - MASH

Yes, please, let's share the ebay ID's of the unscrupulous dealers.

Tom Waits was a guest on the Today's Show w/Jon Stewart couple of days ago. He did one song in the studio. The footage is probably on the comedy central website.

donaepapi offered to give me a refund. This is going to cost me $30. $15 shipping each way from/to Italy. Plus I want delivery confirmation so the seller doesn't say he never received the LP back from me. jazz_jazz_jazz hasn't responded to my request for refund yet. It's amazing that sellers like these have over 99% positive feedback. Coincidentally - how long can I wait till leaving a negative feedback? I think it's 90 days after the auction's end. If I can I'd like to do it in the last hour of the last day, so they can't leave retaliatory negative feedback.

CD Trader in L.A. has a lot of OJC "cutouts" as well, most from the summer sale. They have others as well - and always have - but I don't know if they're part of any winter sale. These are not cut-outs. These are bona fide sealed brand new Fantsay/OJC cds, many of them K2 remasters. Based on Tom's heads-up I went to the local Newbury Comics and picked up several OJC's for $5.99 [whatever Tom didn't clean up before me - we shop at the same store ]. These are the titles that weren't part of the Concord crazy sale. I wonder if they'll drop more titles in the bins later. Thanks for the 411, Tom!

jazz_jazz_jazz - listed a record as NM; it has numerous scratches and surface noise. donaepapi - listed a record as NM, "sounds absolutely great"; turns out it has surface noise up to wazoo. More are coming!

He is generally unknown in America[we have enough of own dreck]! Even if the music is crap, at least his LP covers are easy on the eyes. -

My wife has absolutely no problem with my buying cds/lps. Frankly, I don't understand why it's such a problem with what appears to be quite a few of you.
