  3. Jackie Ivory - Soul discovery - Atco This was a cult album in Britain in the 60s. It's on sale for a hundred quid on UK ebay now. US ebay has it for $49.99 ($45 mono). Some Japanese site has it for $33.77. Never been reissued on CD. MG

  8. Well, I just realised I've bought THREEE of this year's releases, and the one I forgot (well, I thought it was 2012 until I looked just now) is the best! Coumba Gawlo - 23 ans de success - Sabar This is mostly available as a download. Anyway, the CD I bought had two copies of disc 1, so downloads are better in this case MG

  12. That illustration reminds me of the ones that King did of Grant Green LPs in '79/'80. Is it the same artist? MG The King Grant Green illustrations were done by Toshio Fujiyama, per Discogs. I can't find the illustrator for the Hall. Fujiyama is also the illustrator of the Jim Hall cover. Ah, there we are then. Thanks Paul. MG You have a pretty good eye. But they are all imitation Warhols. As Homer SImpson would say, "Doh!" Right on target Chuck. A couple of the Warhols: Never saw that KB sleeve before. I actually agree with Chuck, now. MG

  16. Pharoah Sanders' Theresa album 'A prayer before dawn' includes 'The Christmas song'. A lovely version, too. Hank Crawford's 'South-Central' includes 'O holy night', a track left over from his previous album with Gloria Coleperson on organ. 'Dr John plays Mac Rebennack' includes 'Silent night'. MG
