Well, that would be about all of them, wouldn't it? Universal and Sony together control all the Brunswicks, Sony has the Victors and the Okehs. What's left? gregmo There's the Durium, Cameo and Plaza recordings. (There may be more.) Someone on this Forum gave a complete listing and said-- IIRC-- that they were controlled by Sony. Unfortunately I've searched but can't find the thread. Cameo and Plaza were two of the labels that amalgamated (with Pathe US) to form ARC, so those are Sony owned. But Durium? I thought it was an Italian fifties label. MG Durium was the company that issued 'Hit Of The Week' records Ah, didn't know that. Thanks. So, which company owned it back in the day? MG MG Why not do a search on the internet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durium_Records Oh, I see. So he didn't record FOR Durium; he recorded for Hit of the week and Durium issued the material in Britain. (I tend not to do searches (except for images to post, which is different) while I'm reading the board.) MG -
You've got Blue Blood MG! There's a good Grace Jones rip-off on that album. And another one from one of those hipster UK bands of the time. But I just see that as Blood and the crew re-appropriating back the chord progression from those young whippersnapers. I agree. MG

The Magnificent Goldberg replied to Clunky's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
Yeah - it's on the Gates complete vol 6 on Document. There's a lot of funny stuff there. On the same volume there's 'Pay your furniture man'. Vol 9 features 'Men and women talk too much'. MG -

Grant Green organ sessions

'Grantstand' is really nice. But the other 3 albums GG made with Brother Jack are really nice too. Jack McDuff - The honeydripper - Prestige (with Jimmy Forrest) Jack McDuff - Goodnight, it's time to go - Prestige (with Harold Vick) Houston Person - The real thing (live at Club Mozambique) - Eastbound Some really nice quartet sides with McDuff, GG & Idris; but Jimmy Watson and Sonny Phillips are on organ on some other cuts. Also 'Soul brotherhood', with Charles Kynard, Blue Mitchell, David Newman, Jimmy Lewis & Mickey Roker. Real music from ALL. MG -
