  2. No doubt. My comment was based entirely on an utterly absurd hypothetical scenario where Lion was a philanthropist was constrained in time and recording costs, but indifferent to album sales. MG
  3. Two black pugs yet! One's more than a handful MG

  5. Underrecorded artists are underrecorded because their records tend not to make money. Hank, although he never had a hit record, must have made a fair bit for BN. Don't forget, BN projects broke even on 2,500 sales. Someone who wasn't doing even that well was really not commanding an audience. MG

  7. Certainly does. Perhaps a pre-release batch was sent to Britain? MG
  8. Yes, we don't have a thread on covers with children yet MG
  9. About a quarter on computer, the rest on the hifi. When I get something new, I concentrate on it - generally play it once a week and listen closely. Later, it's kind of in the background but I'm always listening out for stuff I didn't notice before; I find that some things you can only truly absorb if you're not wholly conscious. MG

  14. They're listed above, too. Not doing a piece on every one all at once. You can do them, if you like. I know you like Red. Don't forget to mention his work with Jack McDuff. MG I don't know Warren Lucky or Al King, Paul. Please tell us about them. MG

  16. Herb Hardesty next I love this photo of Herb rolling on the floor and honking with the Fats Domino band. Here's a recent photo. Herb was born in 1925 and is still around. Here's his website. http://www.herbert-hardesty.com/bioe.htm The world would be a less wonderful place without Herb's stripped down and gutrending baritone solo on Fats' recording of 'Blue Monday'. MG
  17. I think I'd agree. I was surprised not to see the books I've read on jazz in St Louis (BAG), Central Ave Los Angeles and thirties Chicago in the location-oriented section. Well, anyway, the Cab Calloway looks good. And it wasn't expensive. MG

  21. I'm as sure as I can be that I had a mono one. I bought it in July '67 and didn't start buying stereo LPs until '68. MG
