Better get back in the groove. Wish HighNote stuff was available as downloads, as I'm running low on shelf space. MG

I can't believe Houston Person hasn't got his own general corner here. Well, he has now. I was listening to 'All soul' earlier and noticed one track was by Houston himself (he hasn't written many tunes) and that the credits read 'H S Person'. So let's start by asking what Houston's middle name is? Anyone know? MG

Just found this 10 year old thread, while doing a search for Houston Person. Have you got this album yet? As far as I can tell, it's the nearest thing to an actual gospel album that any jazz musician has recorded. It's almost but not quite gospel. P-Vine in Japan issued it on CD a good many years ago but I imagine it's not hard to find the LP in 2nd hand shops in the US. (BTW, it's not the last in the 14000 series - that one's only 14471 while the series goes up to 14838 to my certain knowledge ) MG

Oh wow, with Marion Abernathy! One of my favourites. Does she sing on all those sides? MG She sings on two of the four: "Stormy Mood" and "Baggin' the Boogie." Funny, I'd guessed it would have been 'Voot rhythm' on the other disc; a follow-up to her Specialty hit with Buddy Banks' band. Thanks. MG
