  1. Paul, quote 7/4's message, and look at the contents of what you're quoting (meaning his post). You'll see two IMG tags, one before the URL of the gif, and one after. the "IMG" (within brackets) comes before the URL, and "/IMG" (within brackets) comes right after the URL. Gotta run... Good luck!!!!
  2. Yippie!!!! I just won the eBay action with these very ties!!! (Yeah, the image I gave all of you in the very first post of this thread was an eBay auction that hadn't closed yet. ) Got all 10 of them for less than $3 per tie (even factoring in the shipping costs). Often Rooster ties of THIS quality (and there are plenty that AREN'T of this quality), go for more like $5 to $8 per tie, sometimes even closer to $10 (two or three years ago, when the economy was better). I haven't gotten many ties on eBay for quite a while (close to a year), but this particular lot was so great, I couldn't help but give it a shot.
  3. No need to have them transfered here. You just find a smiley you like (from one of those sites), and then right-click on it, and find the URL for it. (Same thing you would do if you were going to post any graphic or picture.) For instance, you notice how our board doesn't have a "clickable smiley" verison of the green face that's about to throw up?? BUT, but do have that smiley (right here on this very board) to use as the smiley that's associated with the subject-line of the topic (labeled as "Post Icons" when you're on the post screen. Well, I'm about to right-click on that little green face, and then select "properties" from the right-click drop-down list of options. Then I select the URL for that image, and copy it into the clipboard. Then click on the "IMG" button right above the post content area (where I'm typing now), and BAM: - there's the image. Here's some more .gifs from this same page (the 'posting' page), that are otherwise not available as "clickable smileys": and/or . Or other graphics from this page: You dig!! THAT SAID, I wouldn't mind seeing a few more smilies added to the board, choosen with care of course.
  4. Does anyone know if the platters for these turn up in any of the more complete discographies???
  5. Got this in the old e-mail just now... Click Here: Link provided in the e-mail Look how god-damn REAL everything looks (which isn't the part that has me puzzled), but what does have me puzzled is how were they able to get the address (URL) that appears in my browser to appear like it really is a Citibank address (or what sure as heck looks like one to me)??? They also went to some serious trouble to make all the interactive stuff on the (presumably) fake Citibank page, to make it actually link up with (presumably) the REAL Citibank page, with all the links working as you would expect them to. OR WAIT!!!!!! - is the full page REALLY the REAL Citibank page all along (and totally legit!!!), BUT, that insidious little pop-up window is the trap????? - meaning the thing to get your debit card number, PIN, and expiration date. Either way, this thing smells to high heaven (not that I was temped for even a nanosecond), but I had to post this here - just to comment on how I could easily see lots of people falling for this, if they were at all the trusting sort.
  6. Anybody need a Bumble Bee Costume for their pet Ferret???? You think I'm kidding???? God, if only I were!!!
  7. Thanks!!! Just got done running Spybot, and it found a WHOLE BUNCH of shit that needed fixing on my PC. After I let it do it's thing - now my PC runs noticeably faster, and I swear it even cleaned off the finger-smudges from my monitor!! Wow – THANKS EASTER BUNNY!!!!! Seriously, thanks for the links and advice guys. Everything seems to be running much more betterer now. Much appreciated!!! (Clinton - I’m running Windows ME, for what it’s worth.)
  8. Did you check again the next morning, and see if it was still as blurry??
  9. Where can find 'Spybot Search and Destroy' and/or 'Ad-Aware'??? Thanks guys!!!
  10. Hey gang, For about the last month, about once or twice a week my PC has been resetting my default homepage (meaning the page that comes up when I launch Internet Explorer, version 6.0.2800.1106). Instead of my usual "Road Runner" page (which is my ISP), I get THIS page instead. AND, at the same time, I suddenly have a dozen or more new folders in my "My Favorites" dropdown list, each with 6 or 8 links to sites for every topic you can think of -- plus a dozen new links at the root level. Does that maybe sound like I've got some Spyware on my PC??? I've got a decent firewall (ZoneAlarm 3.7.098, by ZoneLabs - the 'free' version), and my virus protection is NortonAntirus2001, version 7.07.23D - and I update the virus definitions pretty regularly, like once a week, or at least once every two weeks. (And I'm running Windows ME.) What can I do to check and see if I picked up something nasty somewhere??? (Probably from some questionable link I got from www.fark.com ) Thanks in advance, for any advice anyone can offer. Much appreciated!!! -- Rooster T.
  11. GUESS WHAT!!!!!!! source
  12. Here's a review of the movie, from allmovie.com: And don't forget to check out the sound clips, two posts above this one - you dig!!
  13. Didn't she run for governor too??
  14. By now, you all know the drill....
  15. Warning - Clip #1 kinda sucks and doesn't go anywhere (and don't blame me). But the other two really are pretty BAAAAAAADDDDDD!!!!!!!
  16. I drive a 92 Accord Wagon, and my wife drives a 93 Accord sedan. GREAT cars, and I'd buy another Honda in a heartbeat. Look in the classifieds in the newspaper. That's how I got my wagon. Good luck!!!
  17. About 80 more posts for me (and Sangry too, who's hot on my heals – THE BASTARD!!!), and we'll both cross over to some hitherto unknown level!!!
  18. Szwed totally knocks it out of the park. Easily one of the best jazz biographies I've ever read, and one of the best written ones too (I can't stress this last observation about his writing enough). Don't put this off, Dan -- you'll be kickin' yourself for not having read it earlier.
  19. Thanks!!! - glad you liked it!!!
  20. Congrats!!!!!!
  21. Quoting myself, I know... Did Hendrix ever cover any other Dylan tunes (besides these two, and of course "...Watchtower")??? I have a funny feeling I'm forgetting another one... I knew there was one other one... Dylan's "Drifter's Escape" (from "South Saturn Delta", though I can't for the life of me remember where this was released before SSD). Anyway, that brings the tally of Dylan songs that Hendrix covered up to four!!!
  22. Cut-n-paste, man... Cut-n-paste. I don't type nothin' I don't have to, you dig!!
  23. All I know is he talks real good. (Or at least he rites real good.)
  24. Well, they weren't really standard standards, per se -- but tunes that people would know (or at least quite a few of them), so 'standards' in that sense... 1. Why Don't You Do Right? (McCoy) - 2:30 2. Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered (Hart/Rodgers) - 6:15 3. Secret Love (Fain/Webster) - 2:56 4. Black Coffee (Burke/Webster) - 3:21 5. Success Has Made a Failure of Our Home (Mullins/O'Conner Sinéad) - 4:29 6. Don't Cry for Me Argentina (Lloyd Webber/Rice) - 5:39 7. I Want to Be Loved by You (Kalmar/Ruby/Stothart) - 2:45 8. Gloomy Sunday (Javor/Lewis/Seress) - 3:56 9. Love Letters (Heyman/Young) - 3:07 10. How Insensitive (DeMoraes/Gimbel/Jobim) - 3:28 11. Scarlet Ribbons (Danzig/Segal) - 4:14 12. Don't Cry for Me Argentina [instrumental] (Lloyd Webber/Rice) - 5:10 I can't ID where all of these come from originally, but the 'big single' was "Success Has Made a Failure of Our Home", which I vaguely seem to remember was like a minor hit for Dolly Parton (??), though I cannot find any other album with a song of this title, anywhere in the AMG. Anyway, I've always thought of most of these songs as being standards of a sort.
