  1. Here's a Roosevelt wanna-be...
  2. I go through phases, that seem to last at least year or two each. I always have at least some interest in rock/alternative music (though never as my "main" focus), and I go back and forth between jazz and modern classical - as my primary interest. I've been in a 'jazz' phase for about 2 years, and before that - a 'classical' phase for about 2 years. I never loose interest in the other music, but my listening choices seem to gravitate one way or the other for long periods.
  3. Anybody know of any on-line sound samples from "Snurdy McGurdy"?? I'm assuming this is still in print, direct from Chuck?? I can't seem to find it on-line anywhere (well, Tower has it in their database, but it says "special order", and Dusty Groove is out of stock. And B&N and Amazon don't even have it in their databases.) Looking at this thread, and the AMG Review, this looks like something I probably need to get. (Or at lease something I should definitely give a spin.) Actually (and I may get shot for admitting this) - but I don't think I've ever heard any Roscoe Mitchell at all (except maybe on an Art Ensemble disc??) -- or at least not that I can think of. And I guess that means I'll be shot for sure, now, since I've just tacitly admitted that I've never been bitten by the Art Ensemble bug either. Yikes!!! -- guess I'm gonna be banned now from the board!!!
  4. ROTFLMAO Thanks for the laugh. This thread desparately needed one.
  5. Did Roosevelt grow up and become DEEP????
  6. I'm afraid I don't see the argument. I think I'm the confused one at this point. DEEP's saying that because there was a double-negative in the rules, that technically he was following the rules, so he shouldn't have been given a demerit. A weak argument, and clearly someone's testing their limits - if you ask me (though no one did). ===== Hey DEEP, if you'll just be COOL, and use your wise and awesome powers for the powers of GOOD (instead of EVIL) - I think you'll find a MUCH more receptive audience around here -- probably MORE than even you might have expected. (SERIOUSLY!!) Quite a few people here are really trying to get along with you, despite your best efforts to throw a WRENCH in "THE WORKS". Since you've arrived (and by the way, WELCOME, in case I forgot to mention it before now), I've traded PM's with several people here who really LIKE a lot of the things you bring to the table (SERIOUSLY!!), while at the same time (some of those very SAME people) can get pretty TIRED of some of the CRAP you pull too. (SERIOUSLY!!) You DON'T have to be somebody that you really aren't, but TRY to be more of the the somebody you are that people around here really DO like -- you dig!!! (And a little LESS of the somebody that drives people up a wall, including me - sometimes, anyway. ) I think you'll find the vibe of this board is quite a bit different than AAJ -- and (my guess, anyway) is that the basic vibe of this board is probably a lot more to your liking. At the same time, you piss in the punch bowl too many times, and you'll probably have to be shown "THE DOOR". We got a GREAT party goin' on here -- why don't you just chill out, stick around, have fun, and hang with the rest of us -- without making a pain in the ass of yourself to poor b3-er, who's just trying to enjoy the party too, YOU DIG???!!!! And would you PLEASE lay off Chris and Bev. This party's got a pretty damn BIG tent, and there's room enough for everybody. I know you don't know me from Adam, but I like this place an awful damn lot. That doesn't mean each and everyone here is my very best buddy -- but the VIBE here is better than ANY other Internet board I've ever been on. Either you can be PART of that vibe (and QUIT pissin' in the punch bowl), or you can be SERIOUS pain in the ass. The CHOICE is YOURS!!!! PS: I probably don't mind all THAT much if you're just a "pain in the ass" -- but a "SERIOUS pain in the ass" is a DIFFERENT story. And I think you KNOW the difference. (And no - this post isn't directed specifically at your needling b3-er about the double-negative thing. It's more of an overall response to you, and everything that's transpired since you got here on the scene. And by the way, again, WELCOME. ) [And, yeah - I moved this down and reposted it. Wanna make sure DEEP sees it.]
  7. Here's the REAL reason Roosevelt beat a hasty retreat... ERNIE: Nice to have you over, Roosevelt Franklin and Count. Would you two like to hear some music? ROOSEVELT: Sounds great! COUNT: Vonderful! I vill count the music notes! Ah-ha-ha! ERNIE: Great! I'll go turn on the radio. Be right back. ROOSEVELT: D-do you hear what I hear, Count??? COUNT: (Gulp!) I-I sure do!!! Yikes! ROOSEVELT & COUNT: Let's get out of here!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!! BERT: Ernie, why did Roosevelt and the Count run out of here screaming in terror? ERNIE: Gee, Bert, I guess they kind of panic whenever a radio station plays the old song "Purple People Eater". ( source )
  8. I found these images, but man - I have no memory of a muppet named Roosevelt Franklin -- NONE!!!
  9. Truth be told, I never saw x-entertainment before 20 minutes ago. Found the link on www.fark.com. But it looks like a fun sight, and I'm sure I'll be back there again sometime...
  10. Click this link to see the whole comercial (.wmv file): 1-900-909-RAPS (and here's the SOURCE)
  11. Any story behind this, Chuck?? Just curious...
  12. By all means, get the AIA solo piano discs, both of them. Luv 'em, luv 'em, luv 'em...
  13. So what are my options for getting "Soundin' Off" on CD??? I don't follow what's what with Japanese imports all that closely. Is the TOCJ my only option?? Or has this been released as a JRVG (though I hate those mini-LP format releases). [Just checked Dusty Groove, and it does appear to have been a JRVG.] Any possibility this will come out as a RVG here in the U.S.?? (Where's that most recent list??) Was it ever released as a McMaster here in the U.S.?? I don't remember it being a Collector's Choice. I'm pretty sure it wasn't ever a Conn.
  14. I'm assuming the answer is "George Harrison" correct?? And what do I win????
  15. Hey, just tryin' to drive my post count up, as always!!
  16. I've just sent a PM to a guy I think would be interested in going the "non-politics" route. If he does, I've directed him to this thread.
  17. Hey - b3-er (and the other organists on this board)... I was just checkin' out the GOFF links b3-er gave, and it looks like GOFF sells something they call a "B-3 Portable" or "B-3 Cutdown" model. Here's a pic, and their sales pitch... “Our newly available B-3 Cutdown combines every attractive functional aspect of the stunning new Hammond model, with the portability necessary for the serious road player. An eye-catching lightweight collapsible stand makes this model instantly transportable. Tipping the scales at a scant 173 pounds (79kg), you will save your back and those of your rhythm section.” I'm no organists, so my question is purely academic. What do you think of such an animal?? OK for somebody who has one or more regular "church" gigs?? - but otherwise, "what a joke" -- ??? Or is this at least a half-valid option that at least a few serious guys actually use. -- ??? I guess I mean to say, could you invision anyone who was even half a professional using such a beast?? No reason for askin' -- just for the heck of it. Thanks!! (And don't forget the original topic of this thread too, if you have other sources for tone-wheel oil, for trexrox. I didn't mean to hijack this thread, but it seemed as good a place as any to ask about the "baby B3" model.)
  18. Welcome to the board!! I haven't the slightest idea how to answer your question, but there are a handful of oganists around here, and I'm sure they'll be glad to tell you what they use. (Goose grease??? ) And if you don't mind me asking, please introduce yourself (an 'intro' post in this thread is OK) - or failing that, just dive right in, into some other threads too. Again, welcome aboard!!! -- Rooster T.
  19. And the trouble with not having a politial forum is that people will start political threads in the "misc" forum. Like it or not, lots of us have some interest in politics, and with all the shit going on in the world - it's difficult to completely clam up on the subject.
  20. Any thoughts Paul, on playing with Von??
  21. What does it mean if, right below my Avatar and other personal info, it says this??? Warn: (80%)
