Whatever happened to Roosevelt Franklin?

I'm afraid I don't see the argument. I think I'm the confused one at this point. DEEP's saying that because there was a double-negative in the rules, that technically he was following the rules, so he shouldn't have been given a demerit. A weak argument, and clearly someone's testing their limits - if you ask me (though no one did). ===== Hey DEEP, if you'll just be COOL, and use your wise and awesome powers for the powers of GOOD (instead of EVIL) - I think you'll find a MUCH more receptive audience around here -- probably MORE than even you might have expected. (SERIOUSLY!!) Quite a few people here are really trying to get along with you, despite your best efforts to throw a WRENCH in "THE WORKS". Since you've arrived (and by the way, WELCOME, in case I forgot to mention it before now), I've traded PM's with several people here who really LIKE a lot of the things you bring to the table (SERIOUSLY!!), while at the same time (some of those very SAME people) can get pretty TIRED of some of the CRAP you pull too. (SERIOUSLY!!) You DON'T have to be somebody that you really aren't, but TRY to be more of the the somebody you are that people around here really DO like -- you dig!!! (And a little LESS of the somebody that drives people up a wall, including me - sometimes, anyway. ) I think you'll find the vibe of this board is quite a bit different than AAJ -- and (my guess, anyway) is that the basic vibe of this board is probably a lot more to your liking. At the same time, you piss in the punch bowl too many times, and you'll probably have to be shown "THE DOOR". We got a GREAT party goin' on here -- why don't you just chill out, stick around, have fun, and hang with the rest of us -- without making a pain in the ass of yourself to poor b3-er, who's just trying to enjoy the party too, YOU DIG???!!!! And would you PLEASE lay off Chris and Bev. This party's got a pretty damn BIG tent, and there's room enough for everybody. I know you don't know me from Adam, but I like this place an awful damn lot. That doesn't mean each and everyone here is my very best buddy -- but the VIBE here is better than ANY other Internet board I've ever been on. Either you can be PART of that vibe (and QUIT pissin' in the punch bowl), or you can be SERIOUS pain in the ass. The CHOICE is YOURS!!!! PS: I probably don't mind all THAT much if you're just a "pain in the ass" -- but a "SERIOUS pain in the ass" is a DIFFERENT story. And I think you KNOW the difference. (And no - this post isn't directed specifically at your needling b3-er about the double-negative thing. It's more of an overall response to you, and everything that's transpired since you got here on the scene. And by the way, again, WELCOME. ) [And, yeah - I moved this down and reposted it. Wanna make sure DEEP sees it.]

Whatever happened to Roosevelt Franklin?
Rooster_Ties replied to minew's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Here's the REAL reason Roosevelt beat a hasty retreat... ERNIE: Nice to have you over, Roosevelt Franklin and Count. Would you two like to hear some music? ROOSEVELT: Sounds great! COUNT: Vonderful! I vill count the music notes! Ah-ha-ha! ERNIE: Great! I'll go turn on the radio. Be right back. ROOSEVELT: D-do you hear what I hear, Count??? COUNT: (Gulp!) I-I sure do!!! Yikes! ROOSEVELT & COUNT: Let's get out of here!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!! BERT: Ernie, why did Roosevelt and the Count run out of here screaming in terror? ERNIE: Gee, Bert, I guess they kind of panic whenever a radio station plays the old song "Purple People Eater". ( source ) -

I found these images, but man - I have no memory of a muppet named Roosevelt Franklin -- NONE!!! -
Truth be told, I never saw x-entertainment before 20 minutes ago. Found the link on www.fark.com. But it looks like a fun sight, and I'm sure I'll be back there again sometime...

So what are my options for getting "Soundin' Off" on CD??? I don't follow what's what with Japanese imports all that closely. Is the TOCJ my only option?? Or has this been released as a JRVG (though I hate those mini-LP format releases). [Just checked Dusty Groove, and it does appear to have been a JRVG.] Any possibility this will come out as a RVG here in the U.S.?? (Where's that most recent list??) Was it ever released as a McMaster here in the U.S.?? I don't remember it being a Collector's Choice. I'm pretty sure it wasn't ever a Conn.

Have You Ever Won Anything From A Radio Station?

I'm assuming the answer is "George Harrison" correct?? And what do I win???? -
Hey, just tryin' to drive my post count up, as always!!

I've just sent a PM to a guy I think would be interested in going the "non-politics" route. If he does, I've directed him to this thread.

Hey - b3-er (and the other organists on this board)... I was just checkin' out the GOFF links b3-er gave, and it looks like GOFF sells something they call a "B-3 Portable" or "B-3 Cutdown" model. Here's a pic, and their sales pitch... “Our newly available B-3 Cutdown combines every attractive functional aspect of the stunning new Hammond model, with the portability necessary for the serious road player. An eye-catching lightweight collapsible stand makes this model instantly transportable. Tipping the scales at a scant 173 pounds (79kg), you will save your back and those of your rhythm section.” I'm no organists, so my question is purely academic. What do you think of such an animal?? OK for somebody who has one or more regular "church" gigs?? - but otherwise, "what a joke" -- ??? Or is this at least a half-valid option that at least a few serious guys actually use. -- ??? I guess I mean to say, could you invision anyone who was even half a professional using such a beast?? No reason for askin' -- just for the heck of it. Thanks!! (And don't forget the original topic of this thread too, if you have other sources for tone-wheel oil, for trexrox. I didn't mean to hijack this thread, but it seemed as good a place as any to ask about the "baby B3" model.)

Welcome to the board!! I haven't the slightest idea how to answer your question, but there are a handful of oganists around here, and I'm sure they'll be glad to tell you what they use. (Goose grease??? ) And if you don't mind me asking, please introduce yourself (an 'intro' post in this thread is OK) - or failing that, just dive right in, into some other threads too. Again, welcome aboard!!! -- Rooster T.

And the trouble with not having a politial forum is that people will start political threads in the "misc" forum. Like it or not, lots of us have some interest in politics, and with all the shit going on in the world - it's difficult to completely clam up on the subject.

Any thoughts Paul, on playing with Von??

What the hell's a "warned log"?
Rooster_Ties replied to Johnny E's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
What does it mean if, right below my Avatar and other personal info, it says this??? Warn: (80%) -
Trivia question: Who, right here (meaning someone on this very board), has recorded with Von Freeman?? (Also possibly the only guy on this board that's every played with him too, though I'm not 100% sure of that one.) B) PS: The guy who recorded with Von can't answer this question, so keep your mouth shut. (Boy, now wouldn't THAT be cheating!!! )

"Rooster" brand neckties - some good examples

No, not really into any other vintage clothing. I mean, I certainly appreciate lots of what I see, but I can't really pull it off myself. At 5'11" and about 225 lbs, I'm an "XL" kinda guy. And finding "XL" vintage clothing is pretty darn hard to do, or at least finding something you actually want, and in good condition - is difficult. Can't tell you how many cool vintage shirts I've noticed over the years, only to look at the label and find they're medium or small size. I do have one vintage wristwatch that I'm quite proud of. It belonged to my Dad, and dates back to the 40's. He wore it for nearly 40 years, but all it needed was a good cleaning, and otherwise runs like a dream. I used to have one vintage suit that I bought back in college (not because it was vintage, particularly, but simply because I needed a good suit, and found one I liked that actually fit. Of course that was 15 years and 50 lbs ago). I am always on the lookout for short vintage tie-clips, meaning those that are about 1.5 to 1.75 inches in length. Nearly all the tie-clips you find (new, or vintage) are aways for much wider ties. All my Roosters are about 2 inches wide, so I'm always in the market for nice but short tie-clips. -

I dislike football (and most sports too, for that matter), Johnny. But it's incredibly easy to ignore the sports threads around here. Some days, almost half the board traffic is in the Politics forum. I wouldn't ever choose the "non-political" version, but I sure can see how some folks might like that option. -
Sun Ra: "SPACE IS THE PLACE" - 30th Anniversary
Rooster_Ties replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Re-issues
Arkestra members (and hangers-on) were not even allowed to drink (alcohol), if I remember correctly. Hell, coffee may not have even been allowed (though I may be imagining that one -- but it wouldn't surprise me either). Ra ran a tight ship. -

Rooster_Ties replied to Johnny E's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
During the entire history of this board, there's been like one or maybe two Football threads (at most), and maybe as many as 6 or 8 sport-related threads (total!!!!!). However, there are currently 1,055 separate threads in the political forum. That's over one THOUSAND separate political threads. I can easily see why some people would like an option to not have those threads come up when brousing the board's "Today's Topics". I think they can still get to the politics forum by going to the front page of the board, and clicking into it directly. Johnny - the whole world doesn't revolve around politics, and many people come to this board to get away from the daily news cycle. I don't blame them a bit, especially given how some of our political threads can be pretty polarized. To recap: Total number of sports-releated threads: Probably less than a dozen Total number of political threads: Over a thousand!!! -

Most of mine (or at least the one's I have that I REALLY like), look pretty much like this bunch (same pic at the very first post in this thread). I probably have 30 or 40 of this quality, in terms of nice colors, and cool themes. -

In the late 50's and early 60's, Rooster had "plainer" looking square-bottom neckties too. I have more of these than I really want, but back when I first was collecting them, I got whatever I could find - which more often than not - were the "plain" striped ones, like these... -

Couple more REALLY ugly "wide" Roosters from the 70's. Also, I think they must have given up on the "flat bottom tie" thing sometime in the 80's, or sold their name, or something. When I do eBay searches for "Rooster" ties, I do get hits on totally conventional "pointy"-end ties too. Wierd.
