  1. Kewl! Link works well, in english! Guess from Vol. 6 onwards, they'd be most interesting (before that, each European country seems to have had its own share of trad bands, dance orchestras, swing combos and big bands etc. ... so gar I never felt compelled to check out too much of that stuff on a larger scale ... some bits of French, a few things out of Germany and some Swiss stuff is more than enough for me there). They can be found on amazon's sites - but not exactly cheap (and as opposed to what the cover says for Vol. 10, you don't get "4 for 3", it's more expensive than any others).
  2. any info on those for the ones not on spotters or feghbuk?
  3. It was her that spread this a while ago: www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?/topic/67430-joseph-jarman-seriously-ill/ (Why can't dumphones create working links when they're so smart?)
  4. Don't miss "Queen of the Organ" on Impulse! - some badass music on that one!
  5. Happy Birthday, Tom!
  6. we want proof, show us pictures!
  7. I got my ZA book in December, yes - shipping from the UK doesn't take too long ... it's fantastic! bookus.com would ship to OZ, see the english FAQ here: http://www.bokus.com/english
  8. hm, also got disc 2 ... it's fabulous:
  9. I've got the Vivaldi on four separate discs, but there's also this 4CD set (less than 16€ currently at amazon.it) I quite love this band ... but I overspend that much lately, damn ...
  10. Very cool, many thanks Romualdo! Definitely need to get this box!
  11. Well, google translate says the phrase on bokus.com means "This edition of the book is temporarily out of stock" - which again could mean there'd be more, but I'm certainly not holding my breath.
  12. His discs were all over the place when I started frequenting music stores (their jazz corners mostly). While I did enjoy some acid jazz back then (Incognito mostly, but some other things as well, Urban Species for instance, also Buckshot LeFonque, Guru/Jazzmatazz, the Brand New Heavies), I don't think I ever consciously heard Jordan play, ever.
  13. Damn, just remembered this ... and the book is sold out already! Here are a few more pics, including the one below with Pres and Miles: http://jazzsufiern.blogspot.ch/2013/10/jan-allan-minns-sitt-femtiotal.html
  14. have some Salt Peanuts
  15. perusing romualdo's post above: 334 titles in the LP box 230 titles released in the CD series (including a few that were not on the LP box) 104 missing from the CD series (only 6 or 7 of those 104 are alternate takes) 243 in the new CD box 91 titles more in the LP box ... but since the new box adds a few things not in the LP box, it's probably some more (100?) assumption: those 100 are all alternate takes now what? the old CD series held plenty of alternate takes ... 97 master takes not on that CD series 243 titles in the new CD box 146 masters shared between the new CD box and the old CD series 84 takes from the CD series missing in the new box - all alternate takes? So, what's with the assumed ~100 and then the assumed ~84 alternate takes - what causes the gap? Hmmm ... and now where's this leading to, the road to nowhere? What did I forget? The new box is out of stock again everywhere by now, btw.
  16. It's all very weird indeed! I bought my Why Not discs (and rather recent Candids) all via amazon (european sites) and they were all CDs. Crossing my fingers it will stay like this, I still want to get a few more of the Why Not releases.
  17. Don't remember the details (I know this has been discussed somewhere on this board) - but could those be regular amazon on-demand CD-Rs or did you buy them elsewhere? As I said, all I've seen and bought (including the Bailey, that is Benny, if that's the one you mean) have been regular CDs.
  18. Hm, always found that one quite a bit weaker than the line-up would let you hope (and assumed that was one of the reasons it wasn't released initially). Not saying it's bad, but ...
  19. I sure hope not! And I don't think so, since those Dutch Jazz Archive sets seem to consist not of widely bootlegged usually (and this one was, as you said yourself - I got parts of it from dime years ago - the nine tracks part, not sure if the other tracks are around, but since those Spanish/Andorran labels regularly grab stuff from dime, it would only be fair to bring this back there, then).
  20. Those Why Not albums were since regularly reissued on real CD by Candid. But there was talk here about some being CDRs but all I've seen or bought were real CDs.
  21. uhm, not sure who those "out here" are, but *in* hiere, right in this thread, you'll see that most people react in a way that you should actually sympathize with?
  22. They added a piano for (some of?) the album with Abbey, I think. The Enja disc is my favourite so far, looking forward to hearing the two new TCBs.
  23. Tis indeed, but look at the "pretty good to very good" list in mjzee's most helpful overview, with which I agree ... alternatives would be aplenty in an ideal world, but as it is, there's some on Collectables (licensed, I guess) and some on Fresh Sound and the like ... and yes, I do have the official Pepper and Moore abd Paich discs. Also look at the other thread for plenty of info, including some discussion of sound that's not all that unfavorable.
  24. Taylor Ho Bynum wrote (yet another) great tribute: read the full article here: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/culture/2014/01/postscript-roy-campbell-jr.html
