  1. Since I genuinely don't like talking on the phone, I'd have to go with "So What".
  2. Anyone remember "What It Was Was Football"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I42JIgfnMYE
  3. Note the completely vertical arm slot when the ball is released. That is the very definition of a 12 to 6 yakker. Moving right along, I see the Yankees put both C.C. and Andy Pettitte on the DL today. It looks like Sabbathia mght only miss a couple of starts but Andy has a fracture in his left ankle. Could be a lot longer for him, especially at his age. That's really going to put some pressure on the guys in the high minors. Not only that, but because need defines value, the asking price for pitching before the trade deadline just went up exponentially. The Yanks are 19-5 during June, so they can't get much better. With these latest pitching woes, they could, unfortunately, get much worse.
  4. Nicely done, Mr. N. Worth the wait...right? Now no one can ask what you've done for them lately.
  5. Here's a piece 49'ers TV did on Owens passing that has some video of the alley-oop pass. The first video is at 2:30. http://www.49ers.com/media-gallery/videos/Well-Miss-You-RC-Owens/c2e13e2a-5364-4800-bb52-559670d32319
  6. Can it get any worse? You make the call. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fyOowyTj0w
  7. I could only watch this for about a minute. Confirmation that in Hollywood, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. That Cher believed she could get away with this and that people would actually be entertained by it is the very height of hubris. Never sell a tinsel town ego short. You have to wonder what she would think if she saw this now. Most likely that she was much under appreciated as a dancer.
  8. I'm not saying this could be worse, but it could be worse. The hair, OMG, the hair. Also, who dressed Gregg? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeAcO3LnFPk
  9. And, as if it matters, the terms will be served consecutively.
  10. Guilty on 45 of 48 counts. http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/22/justice/pennsylvania-sandusky-trial/index.html?hpt=hp_t1
  11. I went to private, parochial grade and high schools, one Episcopalian, one Catholic, and I don't ever recall a single incident of what's now referred to as bullying. Just didn't happen. First of all, the schools I went to wouldn't have tolerated it. In high school, you were so freaked out by the Vice Principal in charge of discipline (who I'm still convinced was a sadist) that you absolutely towed the line every single minute you were on campus. Point being, environment and an unfettered ability to respond appropriately to unacceptable behavior plays a significant role in managing children's actions. In this day and age when everyone's hands are tied and you can't even look sideways at a kid, this is what you get. It's real simple. Consequences create accountability.
  12. Those seem to be technicalities, and that's 3 of 51, so I don't think that will change anything. The defense seems to have consisted of character witnesses and the wife. Perhaps they will have some effect on the jury, but IMO, character witnesses are irrelevant. Plenty of monsters lead double lives as upstanding members of the community. Yes, a technicality. The judge ruled that the three charges being dropped were redundant. I think the defense's strategy all along has been to convince just one person on the jury that proof beyond a reasonable doubt has not been established. The wife, the trotting out of multiple character witnesses, the repeated allusions to the deep pockets of Penn State University or even the Second Mile Foundation, alleged coaching of witnesses and the discussion of personality disorders are all designed to create uncertainty.
  13. Have you seen this story? What in the world is going on? http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/21/us/new-york-bullied-bus-monitor/index.html?hpt=hp_c2
  14. Anything that gets this creep closer to the slammer is OK by me.
  15. It is a moot point. What I'm questioning is why NBC chose to air only a portion of the interview.
  16. This whole thing is so tawdry is stretches the definition of the word. Someone need to explain why NBC sat on most of the Costas interview with Sandusky. There is no excuse for that. None. What little respect I have left for the national news media just took another major hit. If the jury takes more than 10 minutes to convict this guy, they're not doing their job. Hopefully, Mr, Sandusky will soon find out what it's like to be the hunted and not the hunter.
  17. This guy is a walking circus freak show. I can't imagine he's making any money from his condition, so he's just dragging himself around, watching people stare at him and not only does he think that makes him a celebrity but it's keeping him from getting free surgery to make him normal? I'll tell you one thing...a 100 lb. set of balls isn't the only thing that's separating this guy from reality.
  18. Not quite as questionable as the National's manger Davy Johnson choosing to pitch to Eric Chavez with two outs in the 6th inning and Andy Pettitte in the on-deck circle. Needless to say, Chavez lashed a run scoring double to make Johnson pay for his naivete.
  19. My pet peeve is schools without the balls to manage their student's use of cell phones and iPods. It's like they're in violation of the 1st amendment if they tell kids to leave he gizmos at home or at the very least, turn them off when they're in class. With respect to internet decorum, I'm pretty easy going. I can think of maybe one or two times when I've gotten confrontational and then only because some yahoo had crossed the line too many times and just kept pushing. Like Popeye, you get to the point where that's all you can stands and you can't stands no more. 99.9% of the time it's just best to ignore assholes. They're generally attention junkies who thrive on acknowledgement, negative or otherwise...like it somehow justifies their existence.
  20. Yes. In addition to using it for Blu-Ray and CD's, I also stream Netflix and Amazon. It's also an internet interface.
  21. I have a Sony Playstation 3. I'm not a gamer. I bought for its Blu-Ray capacity. Nonetheless, it will play just about any CD format there is and it sounds great. Of course, when you'e running everything through a home theater surround sound system, it's going to sound pretty good. Point being, it's always good to be covered where the rubber meets the road audio-wise. I don't even own a CD player anymore.
  22. Agreed, at least from a musical perspective. Straight Life is a sobering ride.
  23. Matt Cain has thrown a perfect game against the Astros tonight. The 22nd perfect game in MLB history. WOW!
  24. 43-Man Squamish from issue #95 and Three Cornered Pitney from issue #241.
  25. French Open champion, the gorgeous Maria Sharapova.
