  1. Please just take your time to recover first!
  2. Oops you’re right! Still 12 to go JSAngry already had a couple of names right. I also dare @HutchFan and @mjazzg to call in sick for work, cancel all appointments and participate in this BFT. With our similarities in taste they could probably ID some more. oh and @Milestones: you only made it halfway
  3. Only 4 participants and 2 full ID’d songs yet. More people who would like to take the challenge?
  4. I love Brownie, I really love him. He is one of my favorite trumpet players. And from the short period he was active he probably is my number 1.
  5. I never did but now I do! Don’t know if you’re into vinyl but the recent Pure Pleasure issue is lovely.
  6. No it’s not Svend. Wrong side of the ocean.
  7. Ding ding number 2!
  8. You’ve heard that right
  9. I’ll take March
  10. Congrats! It’s really, really good. 70 euros is still expensive but definitely worth it
  11. Correct sir! And I think the only standard to be found in this BFT
  12. Ladies and gentlemen: with pride I present you a new BFT I tried to keep it as diverse as possible in year, style and country of origin. It's all jazz that I really appreciate in its own right. Hope you enjoy it as well and curious to your reactions. Some of the tracks are long but take your time. We got all month! Thanks! http://thomkeith.net/index.php/blindfold-tests/
  13. Thanks for another great BFT. Some great selections. Loved the Benson, the Johnson and Lewis tracks!
  14. I’ve got the Mal 81/Run About Mal release an that one is definitely not a CDR
  15. Oh yes it’s always a good time to revisit Sun Ship. Such a stunning piece of work
  16. Of course there are more artists who changed directions so many times. It was really the time frame Trane was doing it in that I wanted to point out
  17. Well everyone experiences it in his own way of course. If music doesn’t speak to you, it just doesn’t. But I sometimes feel that people listen to some of those records prepossessed, influenced by the reviews of so called ‘experts’. The constant quality of the body of Trane’s work has always amazed me. There’s no artist who has produced so many highlights in his musical career to me, not even my beloved Mal. I also don’t know anyone who has changed directions so many times in a revolutionary way in such a short time. The evolution of Coltrane in, say 6 years is fascinating. When you listen to The Village Vanguard Records with Dolphy, then Africa/Brass, then Crescent, then Transition, then Ascenscion, then Sun Ship, then Live in Japan, then Stellar Regions and finally Interstellar Space. That evolution in his playing is just amazing.
  18. I never got the criticism of Om, Live in Seattle and this period in general. Though not Tranes best albums they aren’t bad either. There’s still a lot of magic. I’ve always had a feeling that lots of people just parrot the critics on these albums (not saying you do Felser, don’t get me wrong). Same goes for albums like ‘Interstellar Space’, ‘Live in Japan’ and the stunning ‘Stellar Regions’. Comments like: Pharoah didn’t knew what he was doing, Alice was an unworthy successor of McCoy or that Trane definitely lost his way here… bullshit if you ask me. In fact they are among my favorite albums.
  19. According to the NPR article, Ward is making a guest appearance. I don’t think he’s on all of the tracks. Here’s a first sample It sounds very good
  20. It really is new unreleased stuff….. oh boy I really need to get this https://johncoltrane.lnk.to/LiveInSeattlePR https://www.npr.org/2021/08/26/1031013271/john-coltranes-masterpiece-breathes-new-life-with-a-love-supreme-live-in-seattle?t=1629969077178
  21. That mosaic is amazing!
  22. I’ve pre-ordered that one. From the samples I could say: it’s outstanding!
  23. So do I!
