  2. , but I like the version from the 1962 Birdland bootleg even better.
  3. I ordered these two books a couple of days ago. I read Dawkins' The God Delusion at the time of its release, but felt that was enough. I'm not in need of convincing.
  4. I didn't read Hannah Rothschild's book, but did see her documentary The Jazz Baroness previously broadcast on the BBC. The DVD is only £5.50 on amazon.co.uk and apparently PAL region free. Her children did visit her in her 'cat house' if I remember correctly.

  6. I never realized quantities could be so small for an artist like John Coltrane.
  7. On the HIP-O Select site this release is advertised as a limited edition (2000 copies). Link WTF!?
  8. I'm still waiting on the new Steve Coleman CD posted by Amazon.com on 26/3. I'm begining to think this may have gone down over the Atlantic. Meanwhile received LP from US within 10 days which has been about average. On the whole I'm not disatisfied with the USPS service until now. With the new prices I'll not be finding out what it's like in the future very much at all Amazon.com standard shipping of a single CD to The Netherlands takes 4 weeks without exception. I wonder who they use for this States side.
  9. I've been waiting on Bobby Hutcherson's Total Eclipse since I got a shipping notice on 2 April from its UK seller. A CD sent from France can be here within 1 to 2 days. Crazy. Even a CD sent on the cheap from Japan can be here in 4 to 5 days.
  10. What about the bonus track on "First Meditations"? Recorded at Coast Recorders, San Francisco on September 22, 1965.

  12. As long as they are European pressings I believe you are save. All of those discs I bought have the Universal logo and appropriate codes in the inner ring of the playing surface. They were 'Made in Germany by EDC.' 2015 update: Universal Europe has also started using CD-Rs for titles they have run out of stock on.
  13. I care more about making a secure rip than adding all sorts of metadata; consequently, I only use XLD on my iMac. My rips are primarily for archival purposes. Listening on a computer too often can make me grow tired of music I'd rather enjoy in more optimal sound quality the old fashioned way.
  14. CDs in a bubble mailer can be there pretty fast (4 to 7 days). At other times it can take up to 14 days. The same goes for the UK. If I have a complaint about USPS it's the ridiculous new prices. Edit: Mail from Asia (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan) is typically faster to arrive.
