    Rolf Kühn

Jahrhundertfigur! So we call in Germany those rare, exceptional artists - like Rolf Kühn is in many ways: His own history (East-/West-Germany), one of the first Europeans to succeed in the US, in his case with Benny Goodman in N.Y, enormously versatile (works for radio, tv, theatre), played with the big ones like Mangelsdorff, NHOP, Corea, Randy Brecker and finally with the young generation of German jazz up til high age (comparable with Art Blakey!), sticked to clarinet all his life, never switched to tenor. Above all his always natural, friendly way. RIP, Rolf Kühn

  20. Gustavo Tavares (cello) & Nelson Faria (guitar) - Na Esquina de Mestre Mignone (TF music) 10 strings, two instruments, one bowed, the other plucked, are an enchanting pairing in chamber music. Repertoire is everything but large and recordings are rare. This one, covering Brazilian compositions,, is a beaut. Both musicians, masters of their instrument, play beautifully together. And the set is ravishing.
