Someone to rave about. I like his tone and style. Favourite tune: "Giuseppe" (from In Between, 2010) Using banjo for rhythm is couragous and - done in this way - ravishing: sort of folksy ambient jazz. There´s a lot to discover in Truffaz´ discography.

Thanks for notification, Cliff! First thought it might be a new edition of "Live in Tokyo" which is the best live recording of the late great Chet Baker up to date. Didn´t know that he played further dates in Japan than this legendary concert at Hitomi-Kine-Kodo, Tokyo, June 14, 1987. But of course Sendai is not Tokyo. So if those newly published Sendai dates are of similar quality both discs might be a real treasure.

My dearest Knuffke on Steeplechase is his duo recording "Satie" from 2016 with pianist Jesse Stacken with music by Erik Satie.

One of my dearest albums in the early Seventies was Gato´s "Under Fire" (Flying Dutchman) Exciting music with excellent sidemen, among others Airto, John Abercrombie, Stanley Clarke, Roy Haynes and Lonnie Liston Smith. Highly recommended!
