Uh-oh ... so USB 2.0 and Firewire are the same thing, Jim? I'm pretty much a doofus when it comes to that dang ol' teknawlogee. In that case, couw, you were right on the money. My apologies for coming in and 'trampling' on your post. Nevertheless, it's a pretty cool little gadget ... I would highly recommend trying it out if one is so inclined. Thanks, Jim, for the push! It's very nice to be able to take 2000 songs on road trips without having to tote the CDs!

Hey Jim -- I didn't notice it in your son's post, though I could very well be overlooking it, but I think you have to have a Firewire card installed in your PC for the iPod to work with Windows. It won't work through the regular USB port. At least, my version didn't (purchased in January '03). I love mine! It's only a 10G, though (only! ) ... I've been trying to convince the missus of the need for the 40G ... no luck so far.
  3. Having the same problem ... just a moment ago.
  4. I have all ... the only one that I didn't like (and wound up getting rid of) was the Alan Shorter ... I had the opportunity to buy two copies of the Schifrin, but bought just the one. Wish I had bought the second, I might have been able to fund my kid's college tuition with it! Nah, I know the price has come down on it ... and I don't have a kid.
  5. The stuff on Prelude's not his greatest, IMHO, but semi-weak McDuff is better than a lot of other music ... ah, hell, I like it, too. But I think there is better of his work out there.
  6. Two of my favorite 'KRP scenes: The one where the Big Guy opens the door to the darkroom where film is being developed to tell the guy he'll wait outside ... ... and the one where the station is having an "impossible-to-win" contest, something like playing a tenth of a second of seven or eight songs, and the first caller nails it. Priceless! RIP, Mr. Jump.
  7. up once again ...
  8. Yes on this end ...

  10. Can someone give me a line-up and track listing for the Herb Ellis self-titled Verve LP MGV 8278? AMG lists it from 1957. I'm wondering if this has seen the light of day on disc under a different title. Thank you!
  11. Anyone ... ?
  12. Any one out there have a history and/or discography of this label out of Pittsburgh? I know trombonist Harold Betters had several releases on it (including a great two bone date with Slide Hampton) and pianist Walt Harper had a couple. Other than that, I'm finding nothing ... Thanks!
  13. Or the time the Simpsons went to Bronson, Missouri .... RIP.
