  1. Greetings -- I'm looking for Ornette's "Lenox School of Jazz Concert", which may or may not be available on a legitimate CD. Basically trying to find this for a friend, who offers this description: "WKCR does an annual Ornette full day birthday broadcast and they play it every year, but I've missed burning a CDR of this concert every time. It's really great music with a great band, consisting of students and a bunch of mainstream musicians of the early 60s who were on faculty there." If anyone has this, please PM me ... Thanks!
  2. Here's something that was brought to my attention over the weekend: http://www.hammacher.com/publish/73363.asp?promo=electronics Methinks the price may give away the possible fact that it is not worth purchasing ...
  3. Allen -- Sent you a PM. Thanks, mikeb
  4. Greetings ... Anyone out there with any experience in using a service to transfer LP-to-CD? I'm looking for a good company with a fair price ... any recommendations are appreciated! Thanks, mikeb
  5. I picked up the Hoffman CD from the Groove ... I guess the review from the DGA website is pretty close to what's on the disc. Definitely made me think of Booker T. and the bunch. Anyway, from my brief scan of the recent liner notes (not sure when they were written), Hoffman gave up the organ but is still active in Colgone.
  6. Anyone know when this will be broadcast? I'm assuming on NPR ... ?
  7. Thanks, John ... Well, the bidding is up to $120 now ... and the reserve has been met. Hope for the buyer's sake it's worth it!
  8. Ah, good point, Dan ... somehow, I missed that in the listing. Wonder what the reserve for it is?

    Harold Vick

Any one have any info on the Harold Vick RCA LP Watch What Happens? Has this been on LP under a different title? Thanks in advance!
  11. Wulfman -- How exactly does one go about opening an iPod? And speaking of openings, this could be the one I need to convince my wife I have to buy the 40 GB model ...
  12. Up ... The Jackie Ivory LP is on hold. All others still available.
  13. A couple of long-forgotten organists that (apparently) only had one album each?: Tyrone Parsons (Organ-Eyes, on the Imperial label, from ~ 1963); Willie Bovain (Jazz + Soul = Love, on the Revue label, from the mid-60's, I'm guessing)

    Victor Feldman

Thank you for the info! Any other players known besides Collette and Scott (and Feldman )?
  15. Can anyone provide me with the year of this LP?: Victor Feldman, A Taste Of Honey And A Taste Of Bossa Nova Infinity INXLP5000 Is anyone familiar with this date? Opinions? Has this been reissued on disc? Thanks in advance!
  16. It is great! Johnny Cash was one of the few performers, IMHO, that exuded a palpable aura when he was singing, even if it was just him and a guitar ...
  17. Thought I would resurrect this thread again for the benefit of any new board members: "I have the following available for sale. Prices are postage paid (priority mail) in the U.S., with insurance extra if desired. I will ship overseas, but buyer will be responsible for actual shipping costs. I will offer multiple-LP-purchase (same shipment) discounts. I would prefer payment by postal money order, but will accept a personal check with a seven-business-day wait for clearance. Cash is OK, too, but send at your own risk! Grade given is for vinyl and is a play grade, unless noted. Any questions or interest, please PM me. Thank you, and look for more to come! 18. Stefan, thanks for the review! I've been waiting for this for some time ... and the clips I've heard have made me look forward to hearing even more.
  19. I'm planning to stick around for awhile longer ... I'm trying to finish up the Fantasy and Concord catalogs. I've found that, for the most part, the downloads are painfully slow. Last night, for instance, I dl'd an Elliott Lawrence session that was pretty lengthy (15 or so tracks, ~ 77 minutes) ... even with cancelling and restarting a handful of tracks, the whole thing took over three hours! The problem I have is that the "requesting file" part takes so #$%&$#^ long -- once it starts downloading, it might be even faster than ever before for my PC. So the Lawrence took three hours ... and then I downloaded Chuck Mangione's Recuerdo in literally 90 seconds!!! It's like playing golf or fishing -- 90% of the experience could suck, but you hit that one good shot or catch that one decent-sized fish (or have a dl in 90 seconds), and you'll be back ...
  20. I just picked this up, and I have to echo the posts so far on this thread ... this session is so greasy, it might just slide right out of your CD player! I seriously have to say it is one of the best new releases I have heard this year. To think these gentlemen, who are well into their "golden years" (isn't Frank Wess in his 80s?), can still lay down grooves like this is very comforting. Thanks to all involved in this milestone (no pun intended!), and a big thank you to Fantasy for releasing it! I second Soul Stream's words: buy this if at all possible, and let these cats lay down some more grooves for another disc!

    ipod w/windows

Wow ... a PCI card that does both ... guess I should have waited for that third generation mo-chine. Ah, well, instant gratification sometimes has its drawbacks! I like the "cheap iPod", Jim!
