  1. Just a bit of info: Regular harddrives support regular work hours, ie apprx 9 hours per day. I these days of downloads 24 hrs a day, these harddrives simply overheat and die. You may want to buy the harddrives thaat are especially buily for strenuous work - WD SE series and MaxLine by Maxtor. They cost about 15% more, though.
  2. Have a great birthday!!
  3. Group goes to court over Safed rabbi's `racism' By Yuval Yoaz Wed., July 13, 2005 The Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC) petitioned the High Court yesterday, demanding that Attorney General Menahem Mazuz charge Safed Chief Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu for making racist remarks. "Rabbi Eliyahu has been conducting a racist campaign against Israel's Arab population over the past several years, and his responses on various Web sites represent racist and nationalist positions that encourage acts of violence and reflect profound contempt for Israel's democratic institutions," said IRAC lawyer Einat Horowitz. Eighteen months ago, Mazuz decided to try Eliyahu. However no indictment has been drawn up because the matter "is being investigated." "There is no choice but to conclude that the attorney general has resolved not to try Rabbi Eliyahu," the petition says, "in contravention of the law, common sense and his previous decision." Among his statements regarding Arabs, Eliyahu has said, "The basic assumption is that they favor terror; with the money one pays them they are liable to buy weapons with which to kill another Jew; it is forbidden to buy a tomato from an Arab, to sell him a car, give him employment." http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/599224.html
  4. Received the discs yesterday. Thanks Jim!!!
  5. Lars Gullin was probably one of Europe's best Jazzists. IMHO, he was one of the true bari giants. I believe that even those of us who love his music, often tend to neglect his tunesmith abilities - his amazing song writing ability. Some of his melodies that I really like are: Merlin, Danny's Dream, Late Date, Aeros Aromatica Atomica Suite, Kvartet Oron, Silhouette, Fine Together, Late Summer and many many others. So let's hear it for The great Gullin. ps, While I was kayaking in Alaska, I kept hearing Gullin's melodies in my head. They seemed like the perfect soundtrack for Glacier Bay Nat'l Park:

  11. I my experience, the first things that crash down are the mobile networks. Everybody want to make a call in a small area and the networks simply stop functioning almost at once.
  12. Friends here in Jerusalem tell me that the Scotland Yard sent warning to Jerusalem PRIOR to the blasts that a terrorist attack is due. If that's true, why didn't the Yard warn the Londoners?
  13. Hope all our friends and their families over there are unharmed. Londoners, my heart goes out to you. be strong.

  17. I'm a Belgian Beer guy. I prefer the Belgians over any other beers, inc. British, German & Czech. While living in the States I did find some very very nice micro brewries. I don't remember the names, though. Here's another great Belgian: Rochefort 8 is very nice as well.
  18. I second that! Especially the Blue Label
  19. For all our American friends: Happy Forth of July, guys!
  20. In China they sell pirated DVD's for 90 cents. At that price, the subtitles are homemade and... not so good. Check out theseHILARIOUS subtitles for Star Wars III
  21. Got Complete Communion at Pushkar, India; Heavy Soul someplace in Bangkok; Tal in Hong Kong. None of which qualifies as "Bizarre", but some odd places to pick Jazz CDs.
