  1. The Firebox and Firepod come with Cubase LE, but I don't think the TubePre does. Steinberg should really offer Cubase LE as a free download to anyone, regardless of gear. It has no copy protection anyway. It could be their version of ProTools Free (which was a great idea).
  2. I disagree. I think he could provide some serious scoring off the bench (or even starting, if 'Sheed doesn't get his act together).
  3. Sorry. As 7/4 stated, DAW = Digital Audio Workstation. I'm assuming you're recording to your computer? Just wondering what program you're using.
  4. Sweet! If you need any help, let me know. What are you using for a DAW?
  5. I assume by "audio" you're referring to using the analog outputs of the CD player into the analog inputs of the record. The key word is analog. Therein lies the problem.
  6. F' me, is CWebb coming to the Big D?
  7. Yep. It's good to see a young woman interested in music beyond being another cliche vocalist. And I echo Jim's statements about learning arranging, sequencing, MIDI, etc. Go get 'em!
  8. Who's playing next Friday?
  9. Stick with sax. You only have to worry about one note at a time. Sorry to hear about your mum. Hope everyone is ok.
  10. Ted, you can use the "edit" button to edit posts.
  11. I still remember when he came over from the NJ board (in leiu of the comedy from musicboy, of course!) Happy B-day, friend!
  12. 'Sheed was late to practice and so he came off the bench against the 76'ers and joked that Saunders should bring him off the bench more regularly. So he did. Stupid game last night.
  13. Heard good things about Keilwerth. Also, for lower budgets, the Yamaha's are decent... especially for students.
  14. Just watched some episodes of Mythbusters tonight. I don't watch it religiously, but when I'm flipping through and its on, I usually watch the whole thing. Tonight they were testing the myth about jumping into a river or lake or other body of water and the water protecting you from bullets. The results were pretty amazing, imo. Fun show! Anybody else a fan?
  15. That cover is just bland. They didn't do anything with the song to make it theirs at all. It's just a straight cover. Boring.
  16. Missed this the first time around. I just sent you an add request. Now you can be one of the few (hundred) special organissimo friends. Aren't you lucky?
  17. If you burn from mp3s, they contain a lot of information about the record (if the mp3s are probably compressed to begin with).
  18. Hey cool... Como En Vietnam. We'll probably be doing a version of this on the next organissimo record!
  19. It's definitely cool looking, which is to be expected from Apple.
  20. Damn. What am I thinkin'?
  21. Ouch. That's crazy expensive just to listen to iTunes on your phone.
  22. Agreed. Again, it makes communities like this one all the more valuable because this is the only way to wade through the junk. There is a ton of music out there and only a fraction is worth listening to. Of course, that fraction still represents a large number of CDs (100's, perhaps 1000's per year if you don't limit it to just "jazz") so how do you find out what you might like? Internet radio, internet forums like these, blogs, etc. The big magazines only cover the big guys. The small magazines that cater to niche markets like jazz and blues and folk tend to be corrupt ("Buy an ad, get a good review!") or don't make any attempt to differentiate between the good and bad, so you can't rely on them. In some ways, it is the ultimate democratization of purchasing... you have to be a well-informed, well-read consumer and you will be well-rewarded with satisfying music. In other words, just listen to Sangry.
  23. Great. Is it going to be $600?
  24. An HR-40? No, it's junk. I have one sitting in my garage. It sounds like poo-poo. The only decent tone cabinet that Hammond made was the PR-40.
  25. Sorry, but nothing stinks like Gary, Indiana. If you haven't had the pleasure of driving through Gary, consider yourself lucky.
