Maybe I'm naive, but that seems a little over the top to me. I just remember growing up poor and having a very poor, single-mother family down the road. My brother and I befriended the two sons who were our own age and even though we were poor, my dad and mom always made them feel welcome and gave them whatever food we had. Numerous times they ate dinner with us. I saw my old friend about a year ago after many years of not hearing from him and he told me how much my family meant to him growing up. His family was so unstable that my mom and dad served as an example to him and he always felt welcome and loved. Maybe the grandmother just fell asleep on the couch and the kids wandered outside. Maybe she was working on something and told them not to go outside and they did anyway. I would be more concerned with why they seem so hungry. Maybe she doesn't have a lot of money, or maybe she doesn't have steady transportation to the store. While it is good to tell kids not to talk to strangers, I probably would've invited them in, gave them something to eat and then told them that in the future it probably wouldn't be wise to talk to people they don't know. But since they know me, they can come talk to me if they ever need anything. I would scope the situation out a bit more before getting the authorities involved, that's all. Maybe all the woman needs is a ride to the grocery store every now and then.

Vangelis being nothing more than a cheap, paltry Tomita substitute... Tomita being nothing more than a cheap, paltry Wendy Carlos substitute... etc. etc. -

It probably started when she saw his man-boobs. -
There's your lead right there. Davis might not know his last name, but he knows who he is and he knows that he appeared with the Paris Reunion Band at the Antibes Jazz Festival.

You know what they say about assumptions...

It seems like Nathan Davis, from that article, knows who the person is.

Perhaps Lazaro was referring to the current corporate climate of cookin' the books.

Ok then, so how do we go about getting this stuff out?

Jim, do you speak of the Western Digital (Acomdata) drives from personal experience, or from reviews? I only ask because the local high-end studio here uses Acomdata, and they recommended one to me to store files from my sessions there. Should I be worried?!? I speak from experience, as I related in this post: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...ndpost&p=460428 If I were a high-end studio, I'd be using Lacie or G-Raids (in fact, the G-Raids are very very nice). But I'm not a high-end studio... I'm cheap! -
Good call! Yes, it was March 7th, 2003 when this board opened! It's been three years already!? Crazy! A big "thank you" to all our members for making this place the best jazz joint on the internet! Y'all rule!

Hey, that was all Randy. I had my newly pressed Caraceni suit ready to go.

Trombone workshop, eh? So it's going to be you and... -
The scary part is that Sangry has almost 20,000 posts.

I wouldn't go that far, but I do like her tonal choices, for sure. As to why she gets shorted by the jazz history books & buffs? Hell, Jimmy Smith isn't even mentioned in most jazz history tomes I've seen.

Well, Joe and I still aren't on speaking terms, but we've agreed to do the gig together through a third-party mediator. Our backs will be facing each other, however, and Baker's has agreed to remove the mirrors from the opposite walls so we don't accidentally catch an unwanted reflection.

I should be there.

The Maxtors are nice. So are the Seagates. Stay away from Western Digital or anything that uses Western Digital harddrives in the enclosure (such as Acomdata). I believe the Lacie's use Seagate. Those are nice as well. -
Agreed. Some of the best memories of my honeymoon on Oahu involved just laying on the beach and taking in the beautiful air and water, swimming in the ocean, and just chillin'.

I have been using a small rig lately due to 1) no gigs with organissimo and 2) my back is killing me (I have a bulging disc between my L5 and L4 vertebrae... yay) and this past Saturday I used the small rig on a pick-up gig with a drummer and saxophonist. I was doing left-hand bass and the first couple of tunes I really missed my pedals, but then I got used to it. At the end of the night I must say it was a joy to be all loaded up in less than 10 minutes and no back strain. I also found that yesterday, during organissimo rehearsal (the first time we've played together in over almost a month) that it was a pure joy to play the organ again. The keys felt so nice under my fingers and I was thrilled to have my bass pedals again! We wrote a new tune and have the basis for another new song, all in one day. So, taking a break from the upright might be just what you need. Play the p-bass for about a month and then go back to your acoustic. It'll be like sleeping in your own bed again after a month on the road. Pure bliss!

It snows quite a bit here. In fact, it's snowing now. All the snow melted yesterday, but it's back this morning. This winter has been fairly mild, but Michigan can bring on the snow, let me tell you. I do like the summer's and fall's here, though. It's just the disposable "architecture" and lack of vision that sucks.

Your city is just a wee bit more beautiful than mine. Sometimes I really hate Michigan.

God, that was nice! Thanks Wild! What the hell instrument is he playing at the beginning of the tune?!

It remains to be seen if moving Arroyo was a smart decision. I have serious reservations about that. However, I think the Laker's caught Detroit on tired legs.

Awww, you're no fun.
