  1. Glenn just sent me a picture of the beast. I haven't had a chance to go see it yet. Hopefully next week.
  2. $15?! That's steep. When we lived in our rental home two years ago, we used to get this kid from across the street who would offer to shovel our driveway for $10. Our driveway at that home was basically two car lengths long. $10 for that!?? Try $5 kid. Gimme a break. An 10 year old kid charging $10 to shovel... damn inflation!
  3. And are you actually in school?!
  4. Ted, thanks! I have not heard of Doug Riley. I will check him out!
  5. It's funny because it's true.
  6. What a great idea! I'm bringing this up at our next Organissimo rehearsal. Joe and Randy have to look at me when I'm soloing with utter awe and wonderment.
  7. She loves it! Crazy little pumpkin!
  8. I like the tribute discs to Hendrix by Dr. Lonnie Smith. There is some really interesting stuff on those.
  9. I forgot, he also got a pair of EMT plate reverbs! Huge things... with the separate controls that attach to the console. Rock n' Roll!!!
  10. You'd have better luck finding it on CD.
  11. I can ask tomorrow and if he's comfortable I'll post it here. He'll probably be using it as a ProTools front end. Not much tape work these days.
  12. Well luckily we'll be recording there months after this is first installed, so hopefully any gremlins will be work out before! Can't wait to see it! I'm going to try and swing by tomorrow.
  13. I just talked to the engineer who recorded our record, Mr. Glenn Brown in E. Lansing. We were discussing upcoming projects and he said that he just bought and is currently installing the Neve 8086 console from Muscle Shoals!! Holy moly! Check out the website and pay special attention to the "discography" section! It lists all the recordings made in this famous studio throughout the years. The Neve 8086 that Glenn just bought was installed in the late 70s. http://mssound.com/index1.html Needless to say, it's an amazing piece of gear (and yes it still works great and sounds awesome!) and I'm looking forward to doing our next project there (to 24 track analog tape hopefully!) Wow!
  14. I'm teaching her right now!!! See, she already has the dual-manual thing down.
  15. And thus, my original assumption as to the ulterior motive behind this thread is confirmed. Oh, I'm not aloud to not like someone? Probaly. I guess the Norah Jones thread is evidence. No, that's not what I was getting at. Nevermind. By the way, use the "Today's Active Topics" button at the bottom of the page to see all the current topics. It will help you find threads that get moved and such.
  16. The Doctor is bad. I've seen him three times and he blows me away each time. Nicest cat you'd ever meet, too. They really should do a live recording of him. Even better... a concert DVD!!! I know someone who could shoot it for not much $$$ straight to digital.
  17. wow. Hold Your Hand a bore, Into Something weak as hell...hmmm.... o.k. well, to each his own. i doubt you'll find many with the same opinion. Certainly not me. To each his own is right, I suppose.
  18. I moved it to "re-issues". The discography forum is for "who, when, where" type questions, not for general "is this release cool or not?" No biggie. As far as the sound, it's got Larry Young, Elvin Jones, and Hank Mobley on it. How can it be bad? Seriously, I love it and I think the version of "This Could Be The Start Of Something" is one of the best examples of Grant's soloing on record.
  19. A friend gave me a copy of this on cassette (was it you, Joe or Doug?) before it was re-issued on CD and I did not recognize the title track until I actually read the title of it. Selling out? Hardly. All of Grant's records with Larry Young are essential, imo.
  20. Well, there is that. Of course some might argue that in this regard leaving ebay might be a case of jumping from the fire into the frying pan, since ebay seems to tacitly encourage scamming through such devices as "private auctions", 'hidden feedback", and "hidden bid historys". True enough. I really don't understand eBay these days. I've been a member since 1999 and it has changed radically since then, not always for the better. The whole "hidden feedback" thing makes absolutely no sense. Why would they give someone the ability to hide that and more to the point, why would anyone want to hide their feedback unless it sucked? It's true that there is no competition so they can do as they please. I guess we all know what the answer is. Craig's List!
  21. BEWARE! Allen Lowe is not really Mr. Lowe but a scammer. I am Mr. Lowe. Please give me your credit card number and I'll go buy some new sho... I mean, take care of this for you.
  22. Does eBay really need to increase it's fees? I mean, it's already turning a huge profit. It has no overhead, no stock to worry about. The fee increase seems to be pure greed from my standpoint and considering how many items are sold on eBay per day, just plain gross.
  23. You mean like this? http://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopic.php?t=23519&start=0
  24. I wasn't necessarily replying to you or insinuating that you were getting on the guys case. I was originally just pointing out that fkimbraugh is not a newbie since he's been here for almost a year. He just hasn't posted much. Again, I'm not trying to blackball anyone specifically. It just seems to me that we as a community are not very kind to new posters intially and always seem to assume the worst.
