It makes me happy beyond words that my wife is upstairs painting right now. And no, I don't mean painting as in painting walls and such. I mean PAINTING; expressing that beautiful creativity of hers on canvas.

Flying to Boston today to perform on the tee-vee (Alternate Root) tonight. Tomorrow we're in Fall River, MA at the Narrows Center For The Arts. Friday the Iridium in NYC. And Saturday at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club in (you guessed it) Bethesda. Gonna be a funky good time!

6 years ago today (6 years?) my tearful wife came into the bathroom where I was taking a shower after a long day of working around the house to tell me my dad had passed suddenly. My dad and I were supposed to get together that day so he could teach me some piano repair techniques but I got caught up in cleaning out the garage. I called him a few hours before and told him I couldn't make it over. He said "That's ok Jimmy, we'll do it another day." And that was the last time I spoke to him....

It's May! My favorite month of the year. It is the month that the lilacs begin to bloom and also the month of my brother's birthday, my birthday, and my childhood best friend's birthday. Spring is a bit late this year, but the lilac bushes in the front yard are finally showing their buds. Can't wait!
