How To Donate To The Organissimo Forums
Jim Alfredson replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Forums Discussion
Well... hm.... I supposed you could just mail me a check. My address is on our main page (www.organissimo.org) under the "contact" section. For curiousity's sake, what's the quandry in relation to paypal? -
Just got my own jazz program on our NPR affiliate

It better be something by Jimmy Smith... -
Dude, it's totally cool. Please PM me your address and I'll send you a copy of our record if you don't have one (and I seem to remember you saying you didn't) as a consolation prize.

I'm opening for KISS tonight
Jim Alfredson replied to doubleM's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Is that a combination of "weird" and "word"? No, it's a dialectical spelling of "word". Only up-tight people say "word". Hipsters say "werd". B) -

Werd! I opened for Lynard Skynard once with my R&B band. I think our lead singer and bassist were the only two black dudes within a 20 mile radius of the stadium that night. We also opened for Kool & The Gang once. That was fun. -
How To Donate To The Organissimo Forums

Oh, and thanks all who've made a donation. I'm not sure what we'll do with it yet. I'm still talking to Ken about ways to improve our server. -
How To Donate To The Organissimo Forums
Jim Alfredson replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Forums Discussion
The easiest way is CDBaby. We don't get as big of chunk, but that's fine. However, if you'd like a signed copy, you can send $15 to me and I'll get the boys to sign it. I must warn you, however, that poor Herb sent me a check in April (it arrived close to my child's birth) and just yesterday I sent him the CD! (shame!) I'll try to be better if you go that route. My address is on the website proper (www.organissimo.org) under the "contact" menu button. -
How To Donate To The Organissimo Forums

Hi friends, Many of you have requested an easy way to support this forums through donations. Of course, the simplest way is to purchase our CD, but since we only have one and many of you have already bought it (thank you, thank you, thank you!), some members were looking for an alternative way to show their appreciation for this site. We will have a second CD soon, hopefully before the end of the year. And we haven't forgotten about the tribute CD as well. But in the meantime, if you wish to support The Big "O" financially, we have implemented a simple "Donate" button up at the top right of the screen. It looks like this: Donate Clicking on the link will take you to a Paypal page. You must have a Paypal account to donate. If you do not have one, please read about their service and see if it's something you want to try. If you do have one, you probably know what to do! We would like to stress that no one is expected to donate to the forums!!! We are not going to charge for membership or ban you if you don't give us money. This is strictly voluntary! We appreciate any help you can give us, even if it is simply your membership and posting contributions to this community! Please do not feel obligated to donate. Thank you! ----Jim Alfredson & The Organissimo Forums Team (Randissimo, Joe G, & Use3D)

Yes, but will you get an email? That's the question.

Still working on this... sorry.

There is no loss of data since it is a direct copy.

Organissimo (dry) t-shirt contest
Jim Alfredson replied to Upright Bill's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Let's get this started just so Bill can get the T's in time for the conference. Let's do these two designs for now: Not necessarily those colors of shirts, mind you. But I like those designs. Two different, yet similair designs would be cool. Eventually, when these are offered to the rest of the members, I would like to have this option as well: And any others that we get that people want. Since there is no setup fee for the CafePress site, we can have as many different designs as we want. Couw, can you post high res files for Bill here? Or email them to him? Thanks. -
Yes, that's the one. PM me your address and I will send you a copy of our CD anyway. You should have one.

Great article by Bill Simmons. Bill Simmons page 2 It was nice to see Stephen A. Smith eat crow last night.

Well, one of the things I'm going to ask Ken is how much it would cost if you and I build a server and then just have it hooked up to his fiber network in Ann Arbor. That might make the cost per month a little less. That way we could manage it, too!

has the board been runnin' ssssllllooooowww
Jim Alfredson replied to Soulstation1's topic in Forums Discussion
Do me a favor... when the board is acting slow, please include the number of people on at that time. -
Every now and then the MySQL protocols get messed up. I'm not sure why. When I get back to Michigan I'm going to talk to Ken about some issues, including that one. The slow-down issues seem to be related to how many people are on at one time. If there is someway to get better bandwidth and thus have more people on at the same time with no slow-downs, I would seriously consider that. While I would love to have donations, I don't know what my options are yet and what it would cost other than getting my own server through The Chain (right now we share a server with many other websites that The Chain hosts) which Ken said would cost $80 per month. That's $960 a year, which is a lot of money for me and I wouldn't expect to get all of that through donations. And I'm not about to charge people for this website. That is the mark of doom for a forums. The good thing is that in all the downtime we've had in the 15 months we've been around, we've never lost any data. Ken and The Chain have excellant back-up servers and data protection. I also manually back up the data base every Sunday. After I talk to Ken I will consider putting an unobtrusive "donation" button somewhere up top for those who want to contribute something. It'll probably just be a paypal link or something, with no set value that you have to donate. It could be a penny or $1,000,000 (yeah baby!).

So do I have to pick an RVG, or can I go with that new Shirley Scott re-issue on Prestige, ss1?
-
Hey, I didn't say it made sense. But everyone thought the Lakers would sweep the Pistons or win it in 5 or 6. Except those of us who have watched the Pistons all year and realized that they play much better than anyone thought. ss1's attitude here before the series began was indictative of what the majority of people thought. But you can't beat team basketball.
