  1. Pro gig tip #34: Don't accept drugs from well-meaning audience members before the gig.

  2. Thanks, fellas! Spread the word!
  3. The sweetest 87 year old woman called me yesterday to look at her player "pie-yan-nee". I headed over there today after my tunings and got it running for her, but the main bellows need recovering. I asked her who recovered the stack and she said proudly "I did. After my shift at the GM plant, I'd come home, clean up, and work on a few at a time." She did a great job. It looked professional. But she never did the main bellows, which are now leaking. I'm not sure what I'm getting myself into...

  4. The XK1c can accept custom tonewheel sets. I'm making a set for it right now, as a matter of fact.
  5. I'm good into spring of 2014. Thanks!
  6. My dear friend Greg Nagy and I are busy working on his next album. If you like soulful blues and Americana, you need to check him out. I'm very proud of my work on his first two CDs, Walk That Fine Thin Line and Fell Towards None. This new one is going to be even better. Just today we tracked two new songs that I'm really excited about. Greg is an accomplished guitarist but what really sets him apart is his voice. We've spent the last two years writing and collecting songs for this new project, songs that highlight and feature his distinctive vocals. I know it's not the best time of year but please check it out and perhaps become a part of this process. I'm working as engineer, producer, songwriter, and performer on this one. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/307717482/greg-nagy-recording-project
  7. Terje, glad you got your setup squared away. Thomas, I've heard the HX3 online. I'd love to get one to play with. It sounds great.
  8. We did Soul Woman but it just wasn't happening for some reason. Strange because both Ralph and I have been playing that song for years and years. Latona will be in the bonus tracks.
  9. Michel, you didn't respond to the Kickstarter survey with your address for this project or for the organissimo project. I found your address in the Big O Store database and shipped both discs to you last Thursday or so. They should be there by the end of this week. If you have Paypal you can order here: Big O Store If you don't, you'll have to get it from CDBaby or Amazon. But the Big O Store is the only place you can also get the companion DVD.
  10. EMI owns the recording. It would probably be a lot more than $3k to try and get the rights to release it, if they would even entertain such an idea.
  11. Sorry to hear about your wife. Looks like your post went through. Please keep in mind that during the hours of 12am to 1am EST, the board software is running a nightly backup routine that can slow things down.
  12. “Education is the progressive realization of our ignorance.” -- Albert Einstein

  13. Yes, that's when the nightly backup starts. Hence the slowness.
  14. I still haven't received anything from the Dr. Lonnie Smith Kickstarter except a signed poster. No vinyl copy like I was promised. No CD. No DVD. Nothing. I guess my $200 went to produce the CD for other people. I see the CD on the jazz charts (along with my Patton tribute, which everyone who was a backer should have received by now). And yet I don't have a copy for my $200 pledge to his Kickstarter. I've attempted contact three times; once through Dr. Smith's personal website and twice through Kickstarter. I've heard nothing.
  15. It is incredible to me that with all the talent in the Lansing area and the variety of residents, I can't find a venue that wants to do a weekly jazz organ thing. Really?

  16. Thoughts on some popular news items today. 1) The Senate passes the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. Religious institutions are exempt (because evidently you can wrap your bigotry in righteousness). Quote Sen. Dan Coats - IN "Do we want to support policies that discriminate against an employer's religious beliefs and require employers to hire individuals who contradict their very most deeply held religious beliefs?" Yes. Yes, we do. Why? Because maybe they'll learn some of that emp...

  17. My piano tuning rates are going up at the first of the year. Time to get that piano tuned! Call, text, message, or email me!

  18. "The debt and work cycle is an ingenious tool of subjugation." L. Roth

  19. That's a whole lotta electric bass.
  20. It's that time of year! Time for holiday parties and family get-togethers. Is your piano freshly tuned? Contact me!

  21. Zora requested we watch ST:TNG tonight. It was the episode "Phantasms" where Data has nightmares that represent an alien infiltration on the ship. I had to pause the video and explain the character of Sigmund Freud to her. I said he is the father of psychoanalysis and a huge influence on psychiatry. I started to explain what psychiatry is and she said, "Dad, I know what that is." She's 9. Smart little bugger.

  22. Should I not have sent one to the address you provided?
  23. Now on itunes... http://tinyurl.com/luswehm
  24. You can turn this off in the menu. My SK2 is set so that when I press the Preset buttons, only the top manual changes. The bottom manual always stays on my bass / comping registration.
  25. Thanks, Stephen. I have our same radio promoter, Mitchell Feldman, working this one so you should hear it on SiriusXM and more.
