Hey y'all... Just pulled this disc out for the first time in a long time. If you like Grant Green, you owe it to yourself to get this puppy. Greg Green (Grant's son, now going by Grant Green, Jr.), Peter Bernstein, Ed Cherry, Russell Malone, Dave Stryker, Mark Whitfield play guitar (one per cut!) while Larry Goldings and Idris Muhammed comprise the rhythm section on each track. Of all the guitarists I think Bernstein and Stryker take the cake. Anyone else have this?

My family was always about just tearing in, all at once. I grew up with 6 siblings, so having nine people open presents one after another would get pretty tedious pretty quick. In fact, I had never experienced anything like that (one person opens, shows it around, then another, etc) until I met my wife. That's exactly what her family does and it takes FOREVER!!!!!! That drives me up the wall (opposite of Rooster) but I don't say anything about it. Different strokes for different folks...

I'm putting this in the Organissimo Band Discussion forum because it touches on many aspects of what we, as organissimo the band, are going through right now putting together our sophomore record. That is, production, home recording, demoing tunes, working things out, doing things the best way we can, the freedom and resulting slavery of technology, etc. This guy is amazing. He talks about everything from his beginnings at Motown and the Motown sound and production line, to general 50s and 60s music and musicians, to Stevie Wonder, to what's wrong with modern music and the big labels, to Indian music and everything inbetween. Too many beautiful ideas to quote, you just have to read it yourself. Especially my band-mates! This inspired me to not only continue my quest to become a better musician but also a discriminating and cognizant engineer for the trio. I haven't done any since #3 because I don't have the time. I haven't even listened to Dan's #2 yet! It's terrible, and I feel bad, but I just don't have the time. I would like to put together one, though.

I almost got distribution through North Country and Larry mentioned that CDBaby would not interfere with his distribution. Of course, this is before CDBaby got hooked up with Tower Records. Yep, go to the Tower Records website and type in Organissimo and you'll be able to order our CD. I decided not to go with North Country because he was offering too little for the CDs, IMO. I thought I could make more money selling them myself and using the internet as my distribution channel. So far we're doing fine.

According to All Music Guide he was on "My Name is Albert Ayler" on Black Lion back in 1963, right before he went to Europe. Interesting.

Rusty sold the joint about a year ago to some guy that took it over and then had a heart attack and died. His widow continued to try and run it and had her 15 year old daughter booking bands. Needless to say, it's a shell of what it once was and they don't do jazz anymore. It's a real shame.

I just tried setting myself to be a 'non-political' member and I could see all the topics just fine. I can't say I know what the problem is at this point. The only thing the permission mask should do is not allow you to see the political forum, which is what it says it's doing and what it seemed to do when I used it on myself. Hm....

This is for my Organissimo boyz as well as the public. I just got a call from a woman in Grand Rapids who is friends with Ronnie Gardiner from Sweden. She said he will be in town from December 22nd to January 8th and she wanted to know places where he could come out and listen to some good music and possibly sit in. I told her about our upcoming show at Founder's Brew Company on January 6th. I guess Ronnie is a veteren of the Swedish jazz scene, although I must admit I don't know much about him. He owns his own club there, Ronnie's Room. I found a little bio on this page. Any of our European board members know about this cat?
