  1. I think he is definately the greatest organist of the younger generation. My qualm is comparing him to Larry Young. To me he does not have the exploratory nature of Young. For one thing, he rarely writes his own tunes. For another, his concept is still firmly rooted in Jimmy Smith. Nothing wrong with any of that at all. And I suppose if you consider Young the last of the 60's generation of organists, I guess you're right. But I originally read it as comparing DeFrancesco to Young which is not a fair comparison, imo.
  2. The entire internet was slow for me last night. ESPN's page loaded up tremendously slow and this board was loading slow, too. Seems to be pretty good today.
  3. Ron's a bad dude. I'm sure you know he's on our record, kickin' some butt as well. Joey the greatest organist since Larry Young? I'll have to think about that one.
  4. I used Catraxx. It's very customizable so that's nice. I say "used" because I had all my vinyl in it and almost all my CDs when my computer suddenly crashed and I lost it all (this was about 3 years ago). After that I just couldn't make myself do all the work again.
  5. Come back soon!
  6. I like the all-midnight-blue jumpsuits! Organissimo has new band uniforms!!
  7. According to Dictionary.com: I would've thought you were right and it wasn't a real word. I guess Celion's songwriters are smarter than us. As for your second point, considering that Burt Bacharach told us almost 40 years ago that "what the world needs now is love", not to mention the Beatles singing "All You Need Is Love", Celion is a little behind the times. Maybe that's the ironical part. Third, I guess they're trying to say if you buy a $30,000 you'll be loved, give love, and make love at all the same time. Amazing, isn't it? Who knew.
  8. catesta, I have noticed gaining a little weight after I got hitched. But lately I've been losing it due to being so busy and not eating. I eat one meal a day now. My problem during the first year of our marraige is that I would stay up late after gigs and eat. I try not to do that anymore. I stay up late, but I keep the food in the fridge!
  9. Detroit put them away tonight. Anyone else scared that Big Ben is now averaging almost 11 points per game AND cleaning up the boards? You should be. Fear the fro!
  10. Thank him for all those great organ records that came out on Prestige!! Stuff that Blue Note wouldn't have touched with a 10 foot pole... the really really greasy stuff!
  11. Paul, you looked healthy and trim to me! For what it's worth I weigh 190 and I'm 6'3". I don't consider myself overweight but I'm sure I could lose a few pounds. I'm not worried about it, though.
  12. I voted for chicken. Beef is too expensive these days because of the damn Canadians and their mad cow disease!!! Tonight I had four chili dogs for dinner. Of course that's the first thing I've eaten all day so...
  13. Yeah. I bid on two CDs back in mid-October. One was for $3.75 and the other was for $9.00. I totally forgot both of them. The $3.75 guy posted a negative first without ever sending a reminder email or trying to contact me or anything. I then realized I had forgotten the other and wrote the guy saying "I'll put the check in the mail tomorrow!" He wrote back and said "Ok, no problem" and then left me negative feedback the next day and reported me to Ebay. Thanks, guy. It's my fault and I'm not blaming anyone but damn... people are mighty impatient over $12.
  14. Oh God no... running this board is tough enough!
  15. Silly Band Names Notice the one from December 15th, 1998. That was two years before we formed Organissimo!!!!!!
  16. The issue at hand here is whether u.g.a. deliberately set up another account in order to deceive another member of this board. grey told u.g.a. way back when that he would not do business with him. bandito, an account set up with the same IP address as u.g.a., was registered on Nov. 10th and PM'd grey concerning a CD for sale by grey in the Offering/Looking For forum. u.g.a. claims that bandito is his cousin. I have no reason not to believe him. But I will say that if anyone sets up another alias on this board with the direct intention of deceiving someone else, they will be banned. That shit doesn't fly. u.g.a., I'll give you the same suggestion I was going to give to jazzhound (before I deleted my post because I knew it wouldn't do any good and just feed the fire)... Get some thicker skin. This is the internet. You've got a guy or two here that don't want to do business with you. Big deal. A lot of others have stood up for you. I would take these past couple instances with grey and jazzhound if I were you as negative feedback on Ebay. I have two recently acquired negative feedbacks on Ebay out of over 160 positives. Are people wary of doing business with me now? Probably some are but I'm not going to worry about it. I think all that needs to be said has been said. The whole thing stinks to me.
  17. That's what I'm talking about!!! One of these days I swear I'm going to pull a Bill Heid and get a tuxedo with plastic-lined pockets. Or better yet, carry around an extra keyboard case that is full of tuperware. During breaks, go over to the buffet, grab a plate and bring it back to the bandstand... go back in five minutes...
  18. You know what? I'm just going to leave this as is.
  19. Life is a money pit. You might as well own the house you live in.
  20. I've always loved that tune but never played it. We need a good ballad on the record. Sounds good to me!
  21. I have a big book by Black and Decker that explains how to do just about everything pretty well. I bought a seperate book by Home Depot on tiling, just to make sure. I'm still getting tools but I congratulate you on the decision to go DIY. Whenever I get intimidated I just think, "Hey... I'm smart, I can figure it out." And then I read for two days before touching anything!
  22. So nobody uses My Assistant? It's a handy way to keep track of posts you haven't seen.
