Is this going to be a monthly thing? That would seem to be the least amount of time needed to carry out such a project. As far as downloading and hosting... we could possibly set something up to do that and delete the files after a certain amount of time... but what about people with no broadband?

Oh man, where's Joe G? I was talking about Gino with somebody the other day and Joe had no idea who we were talking about! I told him I didn't know much about the guy, I just remember the records in my dad's collection and how every one had this Italian dude with poofy hair and his shirt undone with chest hair flowing out all over the place! HA! That's funny shit. I should listen to those records of my dad's. I could never bare to open them when I was younger! The guy looked too darn swarmy.

That's fucked up...

Still haven't picked this up because I'm poor. <AHEM>

Damn, we everybody be gettin' on my case for playin' Sugar? It's a good tune! Fine. I'll stop playing it. We'll stick to "Why Not?" instead. And if I have to get my Stanley fix we'll do Minor Chant. Actually, I love Shirley & Stanley's version of "411 West". We were playin' that for awhile but it's not quite the same without tenor. I also wrote a tune in tribute of Don Patterson that's a nice little minor thing. We'll do that now instead of Sugar. I promise. Next gig is tomorrow night and no Sugar will be had. For the record, I have played Mr. Magic exactly once in my lifetime. o.O

The "Save For Web" feature is fantastic! Also noteworthy for web-design, the slicing tool: You can slice up your images any way you want and it automatically saves the slices in sequential order. Woot!

Noj's Shameless Self-Promotion
Jim Alfredson replied to Noj's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Wow, Noj. Great stuff! Very impressive. We should talk about the next Organissimo CD if you're interested. That would be way cool! -
Could you try deleting all your cookies and then re-signing in. Maybe the old software left behind some stuff that is mucking up the new software. What version of Navigator are you using?

brownie, what web browser are you using? You can set your location by following this link: My Profile

The all "Hello Kitty" thread...
Jim Alfredson replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Dude, now you're just padding your post totals! -
Oh yeah baby! Found a mod on the web that added the location beneath your name! I wish I could say that I did it myself (I tried), but this is good enough, eh?!? Anymore suggestions?

Oh yeah... diggin' on an mp3 of "Fancy Free" on my computer (how'd that get there) from the Live at the Lighthouse record with my man Vibrations on drums! Fun stuff...

That's too much for that piece of shit. -
Jazz (and other musics) respond to world events
Jim Alfredson replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Miscellaneous Music
"Sunday Bloody Sunday" by U2. There aren't enough political songs these days, IMHO. At least not in the mainstream like in the 60s. It would seem like someone would stand up and write some shit about what's goin' on!!! That's another good one... not about a single event, but of the times.... Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On?" that whole record. The crazy thing is it still rings true today. -

"Biko" by Peter Gabriel about the murder of Stephen Biko in South Africa. GREAT song. -
You a bad mofo, my brotha!

Jesus, you guys are killin' me! I've put off reading this thread since my slow ass connection isn't keen on pics. Some thoughts: 1) Organ Fascination: I think my wife has this condition. (ba-dap BOOM chick!) 2) Doug Duke: Don't fuck with Doug Duke! The guy had this wacky, custom Hammond that had three Leslies, some crazy reverb effects on it and get this... it came rising up out of the floor! Hell yeah! My dad saw him in the Catskills back in the 60s and used to tell me about him. I found a CD re-issue of some of his stuff. It's pretty hip. He has.... oh shit... now I can't remember his name. You guys know... the trumpeter... mumbles... Anyway, they do some duo stuff together that's hip as hell. 3) The McDuff record Sangrey posted. I was going to post that baby. In fact, I think I once did on the BNBB. One of my favorite organ record covers... ditto for the Houston Person. Dig it, baby! 4) Clarence Wheeler. Them dudes were BAD! Funky, greazy, dirty organ!!! Hell yeah! 5) Wet Dreams - This ranks right up there in the category of "Someone Should've Known Better". Right along side of this: I wish I could've found a bigger picture. It's a children's cookbook entitled "Cooking With Pooh". 6) Heavenly Bodies - Anyone catch the shape of the "galaxy" immediately below our beautiful starchild?

That's fuckin' hilarious! I like the list of words and search engine hits... the defense has a little fun with that one.

Political forums on the Organissimo board
Jim Alfredson replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Forums Discussion
And why don't I just hold your hand when you cross the street?!?! All kidding aside (and I am just kidding, Al) that is probably possible but not something I would be able to do. That would require some major programming that I'm just not knowledgeable at. Sorry. -
Political forums on the Organissimo board
Jim Alfredson replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Forums Discussion
Perhaps the greatest solution would be to leave the politics forum alone and let Johnny, Greg, and Chris just hash it out, mano a mano for a couple weeks. They'd probably get so bored with each other that they'd knock it off for a change. So how about it? An organissimo-wide self-imposed ban on the politics forum, for everyone except the dasterdly trio? -
Political forums on the Organissimo board
Jim Alfredson replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Forums Discussion
After re-reading the thread, I now understand your point, Rooster. What you're saying is that we could have a healthy, active political forum with actual discussions, debates, etc, but too often it just turns into a shouting match between a handful of loudmouths. So, I guess the question is this: Should we structure the forum rules to coincide with the etiquette of civil discourse? By which I mean no name-calling, insults, or personal attacks? Those that engage in such things get the boot from that forum? I can set up the Politics Forum to be initially open to everyone, but make it a "special" forum that requires permission to enter. Basically, everyone would have that permission at first, but if you violated the rules a certain number of times your permission would be revoked. The cool thing about this software update is that it has a warning system built in. Basically only the moderators can see it, but we could use it to keep track of "violations" of policy. Enough violations and the member is no longer allowed to post in the forum. So what should the rules be? -
By the way, in case anyone didn't notice, I've increased the Private Message storage to 100 messages and you should be able to change your own topic titles. Just go to the Moderation Options drop-down menu (now on the left hand side ) and choose "Edit This Topic". It's all for you!

Political forums on the Organissimo board
Jim Alfredson replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Forums Discussion
I honestly don't understand why it's a big deal. If you don't like it, stay away. People that don't come here because of the politics forum are either waaay too thin skinned or have no willpower. Seems rather silly. Am I worried about losing people because of the politics forum? Not really. I would think people would have enough common sense to stay out of something they find negative in some way. -
Yes, I got PFunk's email address and emailed him. The system is waiting to validate him, which means he hasn't responded to the email it should've sent out after he initially registered. Now, since we've been having mail problems it's quite possible he never received the email. Concerning skins, yes, I will make one soon. I promise. Maybe this afternoon. I need a break from re-doing the bathroom. Supposedly I might be able to put in the "location" detail under everyone's names like someone was asking about awhile ago. I thought I read you could do this last night... then again I was pretty tired! Keep the suggestions coming. As far as the software running slower... last night the server was running incredibly slow. I don't know why. That, coupled with my extremely slow internet connection made all this updating excrutiating. I need to get my cable modem back.

I think I have the 'mail error' worked out. I've sent two PMs that have been successful. My theory is that my server guy changed something dealing with PHP (I don't really understand it). All I know is that I switched the email system over to STMP and things seem to be working now. Concerning a time limit on edits, I'll look into that. But not now! I'm going to bed. It's 6am. My wife just got up for work and she's not happy with me!
