  1. Yes... the new CD is very very WR influenced. They burn through a version of Boogie Woogie Waltz. What did you think of Ron Blake? We can't wait to do this little tour with him in October. FUN FUN FUN!
  2. pryan, thank you very much for the kind and very well-written review! Have you ever considered becoming a music reviewer? ps. The check is in the mail.... just kidding!
  3. Yes, we're "the Thinking Person's Organ combo." "Hmm... I wonder what they mean by the title Decoder."
  4. Now that's a quote for the website and press materials!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited I think I'll go run around the block about 18 times!
  5. Sweet!!!!!! Is my head bigger yet?!?
  6. Did you hear that Mosaic found 15 copies of the Larry Young Mosaic sitting in a bathtub at Cuscuna's house??
  7. Thanks, Tom! I've ordered a copy of the magazine, but any chance of someone being kind enough to type it up here?
  8. Super lame. Reminds me of the time I got a note asking for "Brown Eyed Girl". This is after we've been playing for three hours. I wanted to ask the chick, "Uh... have you listened to a note that we've played at all?!?" It's like the time I got a request for some Tina Turner when playing with my blues/R&B band which is composed of five GUYS. Our lead singer is a baritone. And again, we'd been playing for two sets or so and this dumbass gets up and asks for "What's Love Got To Do With It". ARE YOU RETARDED?!?
  9. They're sending me one. Costs $5.00 which is worth it to me! Thank you for the heads up, Jim. I did send copies to Downbeat and Jazztimes so if anyone has a subscription to those two and see us in there, let me know!
  10. CDBaby, the company that handles our CD orders on the web, is supposedly hooking up a distribution deal with emusic and other online retailers. I don't know what the actual price of such things we be, but I do know we get 91% of whatever that is and CDBaby gets 9%. Not bad. If I had a cable modem, I'd be going nutso! There was talk at one time of Comcast (our cable company) putting bandwidth restrictions and usage restrictions on your cable modem account to curb file sharing (thanks, RIAA). So far they haven't done anything.
  11. If someone wants to start it, I'll be glad to pin it.
  12. Thank you, Jim. I'll give them a call and see if they'll send me one.
  13. I think we get the same money either way. We'll be RICH!!!!
  14. The shipping is the responsability of CDBaby. We get a set rate regardless of what they charge for shipping. So, order away!
  15. We usually don't use set lists either. It's like... too constrictive to my positive spirituality, man! Fly by the seat of your pants. That's what I'm about!
  16. The correct issue might not be on newstands yet. Sangry, what issue # is it?
  17. What Dixon date is this that you speak of? I got the Scone and I really like it. The first track has been in my head since yesterday when I listened to the disc. Great melody and I like 5/4. Scone's tone is really neat, too. He seems to be going after that McDuff thing... very gnarly and dirty. The saxophonist is fantastic. He reminds me a lot of Lou Donaldson. Great tone and ideas. Ben is swingin' his nuts off as usual! I emailed Adam and told him how nice the record is. It has a very cool vibe to it that is hard to pin down. Yes, things are picking up! I'm working hard trying to book this tour. I haven't even called any clubs yet. I'm just gathering information, but that alone is tiring! I think with the recent review in Cadence and this Florida gig, things might be about to hit boil!!!!
  18. It's definately hard to do two instruments. I find I hardly have the time to practice the sax. When I do have time to practice I usually hit the organ in order to write some tunes or figure out things that have been in my head for a few days. Kenny, the Austrailian scene sounds very healthy! Organissimo needs to do an International TOUR!
  19. I saw Joey DeFrancesco at the Bird of Paradise once a year or so ago. He was burnin' as always (playing my B3 I might add!) but towards the end of the first set he started playing a ballad... I think it was Laura. Anyway, there were these two middle-aged women in the corner of the room talking voraciously the whole show. It was quite distracting since this is supposed to be a listening room. So Joey is playing this ballad and they are blabbing at the top of their lungs. People are going "Shhh!" and they don't even realize it's directed towards them. Oblivious, they just keep on yapping. So Joey looks at his bandmates and they start playing quieter and quieter and quieter until you can barely hear them and all you can hear is these two ladies. Everybody is looking at them and they still don't get it. Finally Joey says on the mic, "Ladies, excuse me..." and gets their attention. "Ladies, this is a nice ballad we're playing isn't it? Why don't you make it easier for everyone to hear this nice ballad and talk outside, ok?" They were so embarassed that they didn't dare get up. They were quiet the rest of the night. In my experience, a ballad can only usually be played at the beginning of the night. Friday night when we played the Bird this weekend we played some nice ballads throughout the night and it worked fine, but the room had a listening crowd. Saturday night the crowd was more raucous and we tried to play a ballad during the second set. It worked ok, but there was a whole group to the side and in the back talking through the whole thing. Still, we got some serious applause after it was done.
  20. Tony, This isn't available in the software at this time and my programming skills aren't good enough to implement this myself. They just came out with an update for this software (ver. 1.2) but I don't think it's in there, either. The good thing is that the programmers take suggestions. I'll email them and suggest this feature in the next update.
  21. Does anyone know where I can get a copy or two of this without subscribing? If anyone can pick up a couple copies for me that would be great. I looked in 3 different stores in my area today and could not find Cadence.
  22. I agree. It's a fine date. Let us know what you think.
  23. Hell no!
  24. Shit, that's a bummer. Well... hopefully people will be able to find us and the disc. I almost set up a distribution thing with North Country but the guy there didn't seem very interested and made me feel like I was wasting his time.
