  1. Chicago, Chicago that toddling town. Chicago, Chicago... Spread it around.

  2. Hi Rob, We're working on some East Coast shows for next fall. Stay tuned. I'm using an K&M Omega stand with the SK2. The XPK-200L pedals just fit width-wise underneath. It's a nice, solid, lightweight stand. Thanks for the compliments.
  3. Playing Trios in South Bend tonight with organissimo. Then down to Chicago for a private holiday party. It will be a fun weekend!

  4. If you missed out on the Kickstarter fun, the new CD is now available for pre-order via The Big O Store. GO GET IT! I'm really excited by this disc. It's a goodun'.
  5. I love that the first thing my daughters go for when I set a plate down in front of them is the broccoli. Yes, I am bragging.

  6. I'll never forget the moment, in a fit of anger, that my dad broke a copy of Brubeck's LP "Time Out" over his knee. Why? Because it was his favorite jazz record and he had worn it out so it kept skipping. He immediately went out and bought another copy. RIP to Mr. Brubeck, who I had the pleasure of meeting at the DIJF a few years ago. His music will live on.

  7. He was my first exposure to jazz, thanks to my father who wore out his copy of Time Out. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Brubeck at the Detroit Jazz Festival a few years back. A very gracious and gentle man. RIP.
  8. I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't remember the reply (getting older and all that ) - do you also get a cut when something is ordered from an Amazon Marketplace seller? As far as I know, yes. Concerning the ads, that's how Google works. It uses your search queries, cookies, and what you're currently looking at to determine what ads might be relevant to you. For example, I was just reading an email from a friend asking my opinion on what photograph he should print and now there's an ad at the bottom regarding making your own photography book. Welcome to the world of Google. We all just live here.
  9. I heard an ad on the radio today promoting buying real Christmas trees (as opposed to plastic ones) that had the tagline, "Make your Christmas at least as real as Santa!" Ummm... I don't want to be the one who tells you this but...

  10. This should be fixed now. The new security features I had the server company install a week or so ago were accidentally blocking certain instances of writing to the database for some reason. We granted an exception to the forum so all should be well.
  11. Just want to mention: Liquid Web, a hosting company based here in Lansing, is incredibly awesome. Their tech support is literally second to none. Highly recommended for anything web-hosting related. I've used a lot of hosting companies and they are by far the best.

  12. I love Brussells sprouts. But in all my years of eating them, I've only prepared them one way, the way my parents did, ie boiling them. Tonight I followed a simple recipe of olive oil, salt, and cracked pepper followed by 30 - 40 minutes in the oven at 400 degrees... and I shall never boil again.

  13. I want to thank every one for stepping up to the plate to get this done. We're set for the next four months. We raised just slightly over $800, which means we're all paid up on the server until the end of the year. Look forward to April / May when I'll be asking again.
  14. Dang. That's pretty intense.
  15. Weird. Magnificent Goldberg PM'd me about the very same error in the BFT thread this morning. I'll contact tech support.
  16. I look at my kids and my heart overflows with love. And then the next minute I want to strangle one of them. Patience. Breathe.

  17. Love B&W speakers. I had a pair of CDM SE1's that I sold to Rolf (Son of Weizen) after we had our first kid. Needed the money and didn't have the space for nice speakers with a very precocious toddler running around. I'd love to get another set of B&Ws in the future.
  18. I just saw this on FB. It appears saxophonist Wes "Warmdaddy" Anderson suffered a stroke and is in the hospital. He's best known as a former member of the Wynton Marsalis septet, but I know him from his teaching position at Michigan State University and have had the pleasure of joining him on the bandstand. He's a beautiful, kind, and gracious person and my thoughts are with him and his family. His management posted the following on FB earlier:
  19. ST:TNG Season 2, Episode 16 synopsis: The omnipotent entity known as "Q" launches the Enterprise crew into their disastrous first contact with the conquering cybernetic race of caterwauling Icelandic elves known as the Björg.

  20. Playing tonight at Andiamo in Dearborn with the inimitable Lawrence Barris on guitar. 7:30pm start time. Looking forward to jamming on my new Hammond SK2 again!

  21. Scarlett is currently naked except for a winter hat, scarf, and mittens, jumping on the trampoline. Ah, to be three years old again.

  22. "Skeptical scrutiny is the means, in both science and religion, by which deep thoughts can be winnowed from deep nonsense." ~ Carl Sagan

  23. Cutting "cable" and using that money for a YMCA membership is one of the best decisions we've made. I'm down to 190lbs, feeling great, and the kids get to swim all winter long. Oh, and my little wifey is lookin' damn fine, too. :D

  24. So obviously that was a separate issue from the security problems, most of which, it turns out, where from long before we moved the server from our last hosting company to the current one. All is well now. Thanks for everyone's patience.
  25. Anyone can hide the sidebar. For some reason some of you are automatically hiding it. It should stay in it's current state, hidden or visible, each time you visit.
