  1. They couldn't get a real B3 for a gig at Carnegie Hall rather than that ugly chop?
  2. Thank you! Amazon was having issues earlier today: http://status.kickstarter.com/ Hopefully they are now resolved. Your pledge went through, Sundog!
  3. That's great Jim! I'v' just sent my 37$ for the CD/DVD. No doubt this project will succeed as much as the previous one. Great video, btw... Thank you! Haven't seen your pledge come through. I know Amazon was having issues earlier today. Are you sure it went through?
  4. My new Kickstarter project, a tribute to the great John Patton, is now live. Please take a look and spread the word! Thank you. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1364188191/the-way-i-feel-a-tribute-to-big-john-patton
  5. The project is live! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1364188191/the-way-i-feel-a-tribute-to-big-john-patton
  6. Jim is on board. Thank you, Mr. Sangry. Another one would be helpful as well.
  7. Fantastic news! Congratulations!
  8. I'm open to suggestions / volunteers.
  9. Just finished Lawrence Wright's incredible book about Scientology. Now onto Daniel Dennett's Breaking The Spell. The Hitchens is good. A nice companion to The God Delusion. I have not read the Harris.
  10. I don't think Mike and I have ever compared notes. What part is giving you trouble? Project is submitted to Kickstarter for review. Hopefully it will go live by tomorrow.
  11. Almost ready to launch the Kickstarter.
  12. Ed, it was really wonderful to finally meet you in the flesh. Thank you for the kind words. We had a ball on that festival. Did I tell you I had to jerry-rig the Hammond during our brief set-up time? Had to do the same thing to another Hammond later that night at the after party. What is it with Florida and their Hammonds? I'm glad you enjoyed Janiva.
  13. I think that's just what iOS does now. Doesn't have anything to do with this software.
  14. It's called "Starving the beast". It's a method of allowing private entities to take over what should be public institutions. Blue Train hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately to go deeper into it would take us into politics and I'd have to move the thread but I urge everyone to do their own research.
  15. is still around if people want to discuss this album, though everything has been said that could be said in that thread, methinks. I weighed whether to simply delete the political content in the other thread against the knowledge that the original thread still existed and my own curiosity of where the discussion was going to go, since it was getting farther and farther away from the topic at hand. Regarding the isolated political forum, considering I still get people complaining about the inefficiency of the ignore system due to a seemingly chronic inability to take personal responsibility for what they click on (ie, if you don't like it, don't read it... or maybe more specifically, if you know someone's post is likely to set you off, don't read it), I can only imagine the what the fallout would be from allowing political speech to infiltrate other areas of the board. For what it's worth, after several years of apathy in regards to my own role as moderator here, I'm taking a more active role in housekeeping. You've been warned.
  16. It's certainly working for my wife who turned 40 yesterday and is as sexy as ever, if I can brag a bit. I haven't had much time to use the local Y in the last few weeks due to my road travels, but I always try to hit the hotel gyms as much as I can.
  17. My wife and I cancelled cable and used that money to join the Y. Best decision we've made in years.
  18. Short answer: No. The Hammond pedal responds more like a real Hammond pedal but if you experiment with the response curves in the SK2 (I believe there are four of them to choose from), you can get close with whatever pedal you use. The Hammond pedal is very nice but I don't think you'd notice much difference.
  19. FWIW, the older Nords don't work with the FC7 unless you use an adapter to switch the polarity (easy to make). The new ones do, I think, due to an OS upgrade but it has to be changed in the menu system to accept it.
  20. I would ditch the EV5. I had one... make that two... and they would get scratchy quickly and fail repeatedly. The Yamaha FC7 is a wonderful pedal. I don't think you need that adjustable knob with the Nord, do you? Doesn't it control the dynamic range of the organ from software? The Hammond EXP-50 is the most "Hammond"-like, go figure. It's also very expensive but it feels great.
  21. I'd rather find a good distributor on that side of the pond to sell physical copies. Anyone can already buy a download from iTunes if they want it. I do not have the capacity, both in terms of the software for individual downloads and viable payment methods outside of Paypal, to sell downloads directly.
  22. Others will probably know more about the distribution business than me but from a consumer's perspective Discovery Records seem to do a good job with some smaller, albeit mostly Euopean, labels. They have been the most cost effective source of Delmark releases since the price hike. I know nothing else about them other than being a satisfied customer http://www.discovery-records.com/ I sent them an email. Thank you!
  23. Are there any European distributors who deal with small labels such as my own? I feel like we're losing international sales now that the postage rates are so high. It makes selling direct not very cost effective for our European fans.
  24. Awesome! If you meet Clapton, tell him you know the perfect organist for him.
  25. Yes. I was going to reveal all that in the liner notes but then we decided not to do liner notes. Track 1 should be obvious. It's for the Marsh-man, Randy. Track 2 is dedicated to Janiva Magness and the title refers to a gig I played with her in my hometown, Lansing MI, that was pretty embarrassing for me because of the ineptitude of the local organizers. Track 3 is for my kids. Track 4 is for Joe Gloss. Track 5 is an intro to Track 6. 6 is another one for my kids. That's Stella at the end singing a song she made up about hearts. Track 7 is for a local saxophonist, Wilton Machen, who was funky as they come. We were going to record that song with him but he unfortunately passed away before it could happen. Track 8 is obviously for Don Patterson, one of my favorite organists. Track 9 is dedicated to my memories of Europe from two years ago. I went over there four times in 2011 with Janiva and had the time of my life and met some of the most wonderful people. Track 10 is for Dr. Lonnie Smith. And track 11 is for any musician who's ever had to endure a gig with a drunken bandmate (note: I've never had this problem in organissimo, but I have in other groups).
