  1. Oops, the police are knocking at my door now. Treacherous behaviour. Hanging apparently. Bye all.
  2. They could name him Wilbur. At least Prince Charles has one kid already. Now now. That's never been proved. :that either child is his:
  3. Only important if you're Welsh. Which you would never admit to anyway.
  4. And although I don't like to take the rise out of people's appearance I knew where they were coming from with this:
  5. No offense here. We've got our own crisis with our cattle, but our government is more adept at hiding the truth from us... I'd avoid those 6lb. burgers myself like the lurgy (don't know what it means, but it has to be nasty). So... you're not dancing in the streets now that Charles is marrying his true love Camilla. At least they don't look like monkeys. Oh... I guess they do... What's it about the elites looking like unhuman... No offence taken mate. By the way, just a sample of public opinion at the forthcoming marriage: The new £2 coin,
  6. Ha! That could be the motto for this joint. Could Couw do some sort of funky Reid Miles/ Wolf type album cover "Talkin' Loud, Sayin' Nothin'"?
  7. You're obviously doing a great job bringing up your daughter SS1. When she can conceive and exhibit something so meaningful. Simple to her, emotionally complex for the adult kingdom
  8. The very essence of 'Litania', IMO, is it's material, though it is executed marvellously by the band and Stenson and Rosengren turn in some gorgeous solos, the music has the inherent darkness and mystery one would expect having seen the films in which all of the music features; i.e. Rosemary's Baby, Knife In The Water etc. There are plenty of nervous patches where one attuned to standard hard-bop fayre might feel less than comfortable. Not so much as the band playing 'outside', they don't really, more of a case of challenging material, interpreted with respect and gravitas I suppose. I was intrigued when I first heard it. Loved it soon after, but it demands attention. Hope this helps.
  9. It always make me cringe when you hear British folk saying things like, "I don't really think we need them, but they're great for tourism". Now, I'm sorry fellas but, and don't take this the wrong way, during the foot and mouth outbreak of 2001, Americans were avoiding the place like we had the lurgy. That's how much of a deal-clincher the Royals are . They're a complete waste of space and a big "Fuck you" to anything that pretends to be a democracy. The stunts they pull to 'evade' tax... well, that's just a whole other thread
  10. Makes you wonder what ol' Prince Phillip would've asked them: Brian May --- " Weren't you the one off EastEnders? Eric Clapton --- "You played better when you were full of coke..." edited for spoooling!
  11. Edit to say Kevin, that if anything Miskiewicz is the most rooted in the 'jazz drumming' tradition than most of the ECM 'house' drummers. Like an up-to-date Euro Jimmy Cobb. If that helps. BTW I have seen this band live, and they were fabulous. No bull.
  12. Hi Kevin. I dare say they'll be playing stuff off the last two albums which IMO, swings as hard as any modern post-bop. They may not be as 'in the pocket' as Hank or Horace's late '50's sides, but they will get your feet tapping --- most of the time. When they do slow things down, or break things up, they resist the temptation (because it must be a temptation) to go 'outside' too much. There may be the odd bit of atonality in Stanko's phrases, but ultimately his sound and language is fairly blues/folk based. The resolutions, when they do come (and they always come) are beautiful. Go. Cheers.
  13. I think Sal, that 'Leosia' is one of my favourite Stankos now; not as 'immediate' as 'Soul Of Things' or 'Suspended Night', but it is a grower. Maybe that is partly due to his new band being a bit more, well, malleable, in Stanko's charge. The Oxley discs were a bit of a 'supergroup' really, weren't they? Still though, 'Litania' is an epic listening voyage IMO.
  14. Is it just me, or is anyone else wondering why that guy is wearing a helmet? Especially one that is waay too small for his head.
  15. Oh my good God. It's on that second list I didn't dream it!!!
  16. Millie broadcasts from Georgia, I think it is (might even be from her house!) , but her show is heard only in Dallas, on Soul 73, KKDA-AM, 730 on your dial. Anybody who's in the area and digs old-school Soul music is advised to tune in to this station and enjoy the ride. Some people might lauch at her album covers, but back in the day, she was a great singer! 'Hurts So Good', one of my favourite soul songs What a voice, but terrible covers. Wasn't there one where she was sat on the toilet? Never attractive (to me). Those reviews were hilarious. My wife thinks I've just wet myself
  17. Maybe it was this guy driving?
  18. We've had another 7 or 8 inches overnight here and the snowplough still hasn't been past. It's driving me around the bend.
  19. You guuyyyysssss...! Kids really do do the loveliest things don't they. I've just finished my morning at nursery where there are and in fairly equal numbers. When they are nice, they are very, very nice.
  20. Just what I was thinking.
  21. Happy Birthday Al. Have a great day.
  22. Bugger off... :door slams, faint sobbing:
  23. Well, I've spoken to Rooster and about 5 minutes prior to the pm, I had just completed an order for the Studio set. I know, I had sort of decided against it above. But then these British guys show up and start telling me all this stuff ; Gary, you know I look upon him as our ambassador for all things 'Trane, but you know, he probably just listens to everything the man recorded, Penny Whistle tapes, the works Well you live and learn. No doubt the VV set will be on order in the near future too. Thanks again fellas. BTW. STOP with the Atlantic recommendations already; like kicking a man while he's down.
  24. All the very best. Have a great day
