  1. I saw the thread title and remined me I was thinking the same thing as I logged off last night. Good to hear he's just 'on vacation' and nothing sinister.
  2. It's not a discussion. Sorry for the misunderstanding Joe, but there isn't a worse movie than Showgirls.
  3. BTW, she's already having her music applied to TV ads here now.
  4. You're welcome. We could certainly do with something to greaaaazzee up the increasingly sterile climate we are experiencing in the UK at the mo:rolleyes:
  5. All the best mate. Have a good day whatever you're doing.
  6. This link brings up clips from that vid.
  7. Where do you get your stats from, they are clearly inaccurate. Total posts today: 1076
  8. Not even a little one?
  9. ..the book I want. My boss kindly gave me £20 of book tokens for this half term. Now I haven't actually sat and read a book since the birth of my son in 2001 , partly because it was one of those activities that I 'could' give up, some others simply couldn't go. So anyway, I'm looking for Donald Maggin's 'A Life In Jazz' and can I hell find it. So never mind, I'll buy something else. So is it going to be 'Straight Life' or a book about Bill Evans which someone could recommend for me. Thing is, I know if I get the Art Pepper book, I'll want to go and get all those albums I'm missing and that's not going to happen for a while, whereas a good Evans book will complement my decent collection of his music. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  10. Signing in here. Roses don't have to smell like poo-poo.
  11. Michael Jackson preparing for court yesterday......
  12. I dunno, frogs have 'urges' too you know.
  13. I'll try mate. Let's stick to flaming our Royals instead of each other. Give me a sec.
  14. What is going on?
  15. I saw it in the store the other day. What were you doing in 'the store'?
  16. When you're ready for a trip to the UK, a friend of mine will get you gigs around the north of England. He's just given up his day job to concentrate on agent work and working with regional musicians.
  17. I wasn't aware of a new Mehldau release but I'll buy it because I find him infinitely listenable. Soul? Well, that's a tough one. I think he has it, others may not. But that doesn't concern me. Swing? Again I think he can swing with the best pianists, and there was a time when people thought Bill Evans didn't swing. I wasn't raised on a diet of hard-bop schooled pianists in that respect; I came to Mehldau quite early in my jazz enjoyment so maybe he isn't quite the Duke Pearson or Wynton but there is sufficient for me to get my feet tapping at times. Obviously you want more out of music that foot tapping though. I do look forward to his now expected 'pop' cover. And up to now they've all been tunes that I thought were fantastic as pop tunes. Come the day he does a 'Clash' or 'Buzzcocks' cover, then I'll reassess I do feel though that he'll be considered a living legend in time. My two bob.
  18. To compare any of Ed Wood's film to this turkey is an insult of the highest order. What, are you going to start on Russ Meyer next?
  19. Yep, you guessed it....Showgirls. From the same man who brought us Shazza Stone flashing the gash, we now get 'some-other-blond-actress' in contrived sexual drama. That swimming pool scene. Who choreographed that? Flipper? I'm a bit lazy and the remote is out of reach. This is what happens when you keep tuned in after Desperate Housewives.
  20. Now you do realise that you're messing with one of the cornerstones of British culture there..... ...drugs
  21. Dreadful song. That's why we changed the lyric when we were kids: "We had joy, we had fun, flicking bogies at the sun/ But the sun was too hot and they melted into snot" Sorry but that is true. Tells you about my classy upbringing huh?
  22. That is very sad. Bet you wish you had said something.
  23. Shit. Clicked on wrong one. Norah Jones got my vote...
  24. I'm not going to say it was the best tenner I ever spent...... 'cos that hooker downtown was really something
