  1. I did indeed mention on another thread that my pile of recent RVGs weren't able to be uploaded onto the iPod. I did in fact, try CDeX, but found it very confusing, more due to the fact that I'm no wizard on the PC. The software that Claude recommends may be worth a try but if what he says applies to my laptop too, then it may be redundant; I have a DVD drive but no CD writer... So, if anyone can offer advice about CDeX etc., we'd be more than grateful Cheers all.
  2. If you're a muscle-car fan, it's a flat-out home run ... they did a great job of updating the classic look, and they've already had to increase production on them. I love it's looks (but not in that colour ). The rear axle situation supposed to be a bit archaic though. If I had that money to spend on a new car, it'd definately be a contender.
  3. Takin' Off. That's the album I meant.
  4. Anyhow, that second track by Hancock sounds remarkably like Alone and I from errr...errr, you know Hancock's debut. On the whole it a very riffy, straight ahead disc. Much like some of Morgan's post Sidewinder stuff, but then you hear Shorter's playing and in spite of it being only 1961, he has that slurry, emerging-from-the-ground sound. But then he comes across all Coltrane.
  5. Unfortunately, it's the dreaded Copy Protection; so as a result I've now a nice new stack of RVGs which aren't able to go on said Pod. There is some software which allows you to do it, and I've heard some weird claims that black marker pen around the periphary of the disc will allow uploading, but no luck yet. That software does look mighty confusing. As it happens, I've also heard talk that the new batch of European RVGs won't have CP. Can't remeber where I read that though.
  6. Beautiful! BTW you know the Stag; they were a bitch of a motor. Don't know if you know this but at the time Triumph was part of the British Leyland group, who also owned Rover. Triumph wanted a gutsy engine for the Stag, but something other than the straight six, which the TR6 had. Let's put a V8 in, they thought. But rather than using the reliable and efficient (torquey, light and fairly powerful) Rover V8 (a copy of an American design ), they built their own, without utilising any spec or info from the existing Rover engineers . As it happened, the new engine was a pig and they had multiple design faults. I know of two current Stag owners who've supplanted RV8s into their cars. Back to topic; does anyone like the new Mustang?
  7. The Blair v. Howard debate hots up in the UK. Recent discussion here.
  8. Errr...what was the question again? That's it 'Free Form'. Blimey I bought it when it was RVG'd and you know what? Because I can't put it on the iPod (I know there is a way, but I haven't fathomed it yet) I have yet to listen to it!!! I will, in dedication to this thread, 'cos I think it's about 'Free Form' , put it on this evening. Or after the Top Gear re-runs have finished .
  9. BTW, if you like British sports cars, I'm in the car in front of the car in front, travelling thro' the North Yorkshire Moors earlier this month here.
  10. You're kidding right. Anyway, what a great thread. Didn't even know it existed. Some beautiful, beautiful Caddies here. Along with some other greats. I recently found this on a UK site for sale; I'd have it tomorrow if I could.
  11. Hang in there mate. It does get better. We live in such a consumer-driven society where you are bombarded with must-have's every day. Take pleasure (when you can) in the simple things; the odd coffee with friends and a long chat, enjoy the neglected part of your book or record collection (not the ones you're about to hock, exercise and ahem...sex. But not the paid kind. Terribly expensive . Mid 20's eh?!!!! Bitch of a time when you should be having a great time.
  12. Good espresso and danish pastry. Dipped of course
  13. You know , that sometimes, certain board members , have bugger all to say , but just go ahead and anyway. Find it really annoying.
  14. I'm lagging. Time to post some I think.
  15. you're welcome Cali. The men's team pursuit is always good to watch; everyone's on the rivet and they go at such a lick. GB stand the best chance at getting gold in this for a long time. Have fun.
  16. It was held last night well Thursday evening to you, we're a fair bit ahead. Anyway he just missed out on a medal, 4th due to a tactical error in a small breakway from the bunch. He'll be a bit pissed but he gets another chance in the Men's Team Pursuit to be held on Saturday afternoon/evening. Are you in Carson area Cali?
  17. If anyone is attending the event at the ADT Event Centre velodrome, Carson, California (near the Goodyear Blimp Base ), can you give one of my bezzie mates a shout as he's riding the Points Race today (mid afternoon PST). He won the event in 2002 in Copenhagen and will be marked heavily by his competitors, but he's a classy rider. Oh, and he's called Chris Newton. Thanks, just in case.
  18. I think we need a 'sticky' "Quick questions for Mike Fitz..." thread Can mods put one up, if Michael has a few weeks to spare answering questions
  19. That's great Mike, thanks (I was secretly hoping someone from my mental 'wishlist' of experts would respond ). It's going to be ordered in about 45 seconds. Thanks again.
  20. yu know me, I want stuff yesterday! Anyway, done the searches but I couldn't get right answer. Which Bill Evans biog? I'll be back online this lunchtime (when you're all in bed over there). If the collective knowledge can't provide me with the definitive result, I'm going. Packing my bags for Jazz Corner Now I know you won't respond.
  21. Providing there's lead in those I'm sure most ladies will be happy with the average size (y'know 9 ".... )
  22. Hey Bertrand. Difficult one this. I can see both sides of this dilema. Peter makes some very good points but if you can remember the exact type of relationship you had when you were friends; ie. was it a reciprocal bond, could you both equally off-load problems and seek advice from the other or was it more a crutch? One that allowed her to speak to a friend (who was male therefore non-threatening) and one who's, I'm assuming, a good listener. I've got a friend only 10 miles away. I often initiate contact with her even though we may not speak for a month or so at a time and all is easy. However, the only time she contacts me, and it's usually at a really strange times of the day, it's because she's got some personal crisis. This has gone on for maybe 5 or 6 years now and to be honest I'm a bit tired of it now, which I let her know. This lady may be encountering some personal troubles and a friendly face from the past may be her sounding board; it is reassuring to hark back to a less troubled time for anyone. But once those old slights start to creep back in, I'd be advising her to go forth.
  23. I was among the audience last year at a childcare conference in which the speaker, a handwriting expert' suggested to parents and carers that ambitious pre-schoolers sould be allowed to doodle and dawb their way through all your junk mail and inserted back into the pre-paid envelopes for the company's perusal. It's a practice that I heartily endorse .
  24. Wow. Custom-made too....
  25. That is Lon's!!! He wouldn't have chosen a blonde. Hahahaha...I remember the Babe Thread (all of it )
