  1. don't eat too much cake after the shoot.
  2. serendipity. I just listened to this after a friend, who'd just gotten back from Brazil, sent me a Baby Consuelo teaser. funky, frenetic, a bit o forro, a bit o Diblo maybe? the kind of thing that I'd put on at a porch party once the weather breaks. The guitarist IS amazing with a real streak of the Congo!
  3. While sniffing for some avatar deli meats i ran across this thread ... So a belated happy birthday / merry christmas from Mingus - a younger man but a well dressed one!
  4. "Are You Ready?" / Nicole Willis / Mr. Comicstore !?? track 13 for a good old scorching Spencer Davis-esque anthem. I love it when you find something obscure and tasty.
  5. It's $25 at the site I linked to above. Except for a few domestic releases on Columbia (and I don't think this was one), all DIW's are in Japanese, so I imagine the $56 one is the same as the lower priced one. The nicer Japanese issue was first released as a very hefty mini-lp style gatefold ... very much made to look like a mini CTI album. The less expensive one's are a secondary issue in a jewel case. I think liners are by Harvey Pekar.

  7. It's this one: organissimolinkithink
  8. and having listened to the new disc (which is good, albeit the samo samo between the lines of the "Gift") it's a Ribot performance.
  9. Whoa that's rich. That "perfume of a critics burning flesh" attitude. Even the Mandel blog posts direct links to Amazon for us to toss down a list price of $16.98 for Zorn's upcoming "Dreamers" disc (maybe the work no longer deserves to be called an album), so what is the beef about some publicity good or bad. Next thing ya know food critics will be given a free "Lunch" as long as they don't talk the about the bad fish or being serenaded by Baptista's:
  10. Mid sixties and Yes, pick up some Meirelles. I have two : "O Novo Som" and "O Som, Meirelles E Os Copa 5". Prefer the latter w/ Vinhas on piano. Then you'll need to grab Bossa Tres "Em Forma" post haste and then some Dom Um Romao and then ... if you give a moose a muffin. I love that hard bossa sound that JimR put up so well in his thread. Now if I could only find the two from Trio 3D. Grab this Vibe Vol 8 if you can as it has some killers and the only two cuts from Trio 3D that I've heard and fallen over the top with. Very nice comp done by French DJ Manu Boubli. edit: I had a new Meirelles on Dubas that came out a couple years back that I got rid of fast!
  11. I'm liking them new pastel-y oils of the lilies. And some nice still life "glass" attention there. You a busy man. I've just recently loaded a reduced fat version of Painter X and have only played for maybe an hour total but yikes!! Good for doing some practice swings before you get out the good stuff. Do you ever dabble in that medium? I see a site now where you can load a homebrew version onto a Nintendo DS - for some computerized plein air work.
  12. next year this guy is doing the swimsuit bodypainting. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...amp;hl=pricasso
  13. American Hammer Throw Gold Medalist Harold Connolly. know nuthin' about this other than I had the pleasure of seeing this in it's "clay" state, prior to being segmented for the foundry, at the sculptor's studio. sculpted athelete
