  4. So, are you saying the server is in Florida????
  5. You know, before I saw the story below the story, that photo looked all the world to me like Photoshop, and not very good at that!
  6. ... Well, I hear his son may get a September call-up with the Astros, that might be a big reason. The Astros are at .500, which is probably better than they were the last 2 years at this time, and still made the playoffs. I could see why he wouldn't want to come back to Boston, the way he was treated by the team, and fans since he left. And he wants to be at home, he doesn't even go on the road when he isn't starting, so why would he go to the Yankees(and they always treated him well, why stab them in the back?) or Boston? The Rangers, on the other hand, would have made a lot of sense IMO. He would win 15 starts even starting this late in the year with their offense, and they would have gone nuts if the Rangers made it to the W.S. for the first time with Roger helping get them there. But, he did do that last year with the 'stros, so perhaps they can get back there again with him strong all the way thru Oct.....
  7. Not to poke fun at him but he looks like a freakin' cartoon! Uhmm, what would you say if you would you were to poke fun at him?
  8. Good Question! Interesting, checking out Jim Rice, Dale Murphy, and Keith Hernadez's stats, they all started to go way downhill between the ages of 32-33. I'd say yes for Rice, sadly no for Dale Murphy, Keith Hernandez's offensive numbers overall aren't quite HOF, but he was about the best 1st baseman of the last 25+ years, 11 gold gloves, so overall he should someday get in.... Why Isn't Gossage in there? Larkin is a tough call, he was injured a fair bit, and of course the strikes didn't help boost his numbers either. He would have had more gold gloves if he hadn't played around the same time as Ozzie. As for Andre Dawson, despite bad knees, and playing in that cavernous park in Montreal for many years. drove in 1592 RBI's. More than...... Rogers Hornsby+ 1584 R Harmon Killebrew+ 1584 R 31. 9. True enough..(though I thought the slider was around then, but just don't know) But Babe had to suffer bumpy, long ass train rides. Some pitchers were throwing spitters, more screwball pitchers back then as well. When Babe first started, he was a pitcher, and it was the dead ball era...how many home runs would he have hit if he had started playing 10 years later, and was a hitter only? What if he had worked out like Bonds did, and Hadn't smoked, drank and ate the way he did? What if he had video tape of pitchers he had never faced before, and he had the kind of advance scouting they use today? Babe still hit 714 in a 1000 less at bats than Bonds did.
  10. Once a year, I see some weird bug I've never seen before....what is this thing?? Looks like a cross between a frog and a grasshopper, or a spider and a grasshopper!
  11. First film, Beyond the Rocks, was lost for over 80 years! Stars Gloria Swanson as well..... Here's a link http://www.turnerclassicmovies.com/thismon...cle/?cid=133224
  12. Fun comparing numbers of great players.... Hank Aaron 12,364 AB 755 HR RBI 2297 .305 BA Babe Ruth... 8,398 AB. 714 HR RBI 2217 .342 BA Barry Bonds.9,140 AB 714 HR RBI 1868 .300 BA Babe Ruth, Pitcher Wins 94 Losses 46 Complete Games 107, Shutouts 17 ERA 2.28 Tim Kurkjian mentioned that Ruth pitched as many shutouts as Pedro Martinez has! Has anyone ever read anything relating to Ruth being a pitcher, and how that helped Ruth as a hitter?
  13. 1. Ruth 2. Williams 3. Bonds* *Steriod/HGH junkie.
  14. Hey big Al, time to stop being a Ranger fan, and start rooting for the Braves! We've only blown 11 out of 19 save opportunities this year, with double agent Reitsma doing most of the damage....in short time, you will be wishing for the good ol' days....
  15. Stradawhovious?
  16. What is your taste? Do you like pre-bop jazz, Or the later stuff??? Small groups, big bands?
  17. A weird kind of search set-up, IMO. No way to just link the particlular search you have done(Unless you want to start with the 2nd page) You can scroll down the search by label way, and dig up 302 titles, http://www.allegro-music.com/search_form.asp or, you can do a simple search and type in STC in the search box and you will get 310 titles. Someone let me know the 8 missing from the first search! Does anyone know if Storyville is pulling out of the U.S. or not??? Oh, if you dig thru all the titles, the VHS tapes from Storyville are 75% off!!!!
  18. Ghost, I don't know if you got the email I did, or just stumbled across this, but from my email, it sounds like bad news long term! BYE BYE LABELS... 19. You know, I was really hoping this was a serious thread, because I have seen her a couple of times on late night talk shows, and was very impressed each time(Long periods apart)...but of course, I couldn't remember what the goofy name of the group was. Then, I see the name again, but forget to see about getting the cd(s) Any more real recommendations????

  21. Clearly, I don't like Bonds at all these days, but Russ Springer throwing at his head was some sorry shit! Don't make me feel sorry for Bonds, ever!!!!
  22. I was wondering when someone would mention them! Amazing run they have been on, and Howard looks to be a superstar very soon....Braves have been playing better of late. If they had a lights out closer, they would be a lot closer.
  23. I am heartened to see Bonds have so much trouble catching, and passing Ruth though! It is looking like Aaron's 755 is going to stay the record. Double
  24. He'll always have a big fat asterisk next to his name as far as I'm concerned. No, not an asterisk - that's unfair to the likes of Roger Maris. Better to give him one of these: † ...the better to nail himself to. There never was an asterisk next to Maris' name, but I agree with the sentiment. And used to really stick up for Bonds....better never hear Albert Pujols has used them....
