  1. Hmm, there's an idea for a sig...
  2. A thread was started about this site a few months ago, but it was quickly deleted. But yeah, this is my favourite blog out there since the guy who runs it devotes it solely to OOP music and takes away the download links if the album becomes or is found to be available on CD. I agree with Dan that he hasn't always been too careful in checking first what actually is available, but he seems to have improved in that regard recently. I also agree that there's a lot of 70s crap there, but there is enough of interest too, to make it very worthwhile. And the transfers are excellent. It is refreshing that he only makes available OOP recordings. Compare it to another popular and very active jazz blog where they seem to take pride in posting new CD reissues just days or weeks after they have been released, thanking each other profusely for the posts and informing how "great" and "amazing" it is that it was posted. The victims are both "big" labels like Blue Note and Verve and small ones like Classics, which is hanging on the ropes. The funny thing is that there is something that is considered theft on this blog, and that is posting rips that have been posted on some other blog. Then you are a thief! But if you post a new Blue Note reissue, then it is amazing and great!
  3. The Andorran folks have already put out many releases with material from the 60s and 70s (and I think even the 80s).
  4. The latest batch is out now: 1460 Lucky Millinder 1951-1960 1461 Stan Kenton 1952-1953 1462 Red Nichols 1930-1931 1463 Wardell Gray 1950-1955 1464 Eddie Condon 1954-1955 Next batch: 1465 Benny Goodman 1952-1954 1466 Sonny Rollins 1951-1954 1467 Buddy DeFranco 1952-1953 1468 Pearl Bailey 1950-1953 1469 Tommy Dorsey 1939-1940 I'm glad to see new releases with 78 era names like Tommy Dorsey and Red Nichols. I think it's 4 years since the previous Dorsey volume and I hope it won't take as long until the next appears! I can't say I'm thrilled by LP era material like Sonny Rollins, which has been readily available on OJC CDs for about 20 years. If such releases sell well and support the label's existence it's a different matter, but otherwise I would like to see 78 era releases instead. The remaining Woody Herman Deccas, more Barnet, Dorsey and other white big bands in particular.
  5. Regarding the Gillespie: Judging from just the short sample, the sound already seems quite a bit better than what has been out before. Should be a winner!
  6. "Join in the community or get the fuck out." -_-
  7. The Wayback Machine seems to be down; otherwise it could probably be found there somewhere.
  8. Musicians jumping could be an idea though. Seems to have been common in the 80s.
  9. What about CD Universe? The last time I ordered from there, I thought it didn't work because CD Universe showed an error message. Does it work anyway?
  10. Ha! Try to come up with more of that if you can!
