  1. Happy belated birthday Jim
  2. I went to see the Dave Holland Quintet in Chicago last night. If you get a chance to see this band, don't miss them. Robin Eubanks on Trombone, Chris Potter on Saxophone, Steve Nelson on Vibes/Marimbas and a young kid on drums, who's name I seem to have forgotten ; his last name is Smith! The place (Jazz Showcase) was packed (overflowing) but I sat front and center and photographed all night. Mark
  3. I was shopping at the Mecca of Recorded (Jazz Record Mart, Chicago) music this weekend and a lady had brought in her late husband's music collection to sell. This collection was about 9100 cds and 2000 LP . Among this collection is about 70-80 Mosaic sets, most of it LP, most of them OOP . I picked up a few Mosaics and a ton of used cds, again many of them out of print. Although I thought of keeping this gold mine to myself, I knew I should share it with all of my fellow board members. If you are looking for OOP Mosaics, especially of the LP variety, call JRM immediately (312.222.1467). I didn't see any sets for more than $150.00 but I didn't dig through all of them, only the ones I wanted. All appeared to be in great condition and there were also about 6 sets that were unopened. Happy Holidays to all . Mark (I know you're all thinking "enough with the damn smiles")
  4. Enough of the "Festival"/"Fistival" thing!!! Man, you make one typo around here and look what happens! Conn, how are you concluding that St. Louis has been defeated? Is there a deadline for voting? Mark
  5. The fistival is usually on Labor Day Weekend, but not including Labor Day Monday!!! Usually Thur, Fri, Sat and Sunday. I road trip for the festival every year plus the Jazz Record Mart, The Jazz Showcase (after fest jam is great) and good eats abound! I'm still in for St. Louis in any event. If the band plays the Festival, I'll be there also.
  6. Not a lot of carbs in that cake!!!
  7. Happy Birthday guys!!! Have a good one!!!
  8. No Preference, anytime is good for me but if it were in St. Louis, having around the time of the Record Collectors Convention would be good. Mark
  9. St. Louis
  10. I live Christmas!
  11. We stay at Gina's parents house on Christmas Eve, so we open our gifts to each other before we go there. We celebrate with her family that EVEning and It's back to my family on Christmas day to open gifts and eat about 3:00 p.m. It's more running than I would like, but it just one of those things you live with. In any event, I will most likely score Mosaic Certificate or music from my ever growing list
  12. It's a combination of the two in our house as there are about 25 family members in attendance. We usuall pass out the gifts and try to start with one person, then the next. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I like trying to slow it down a little, it's nice to see someones reaction to a gift you may have put much time into finding/buying rather than setting a record for how quickly they can be opened.
  13. I suppose we would need a MASTER list of all that want to be a part of this Holiday Extravaganza. Once the top secret list is compiled, names must be drawn to determine who has who. I think this is where you would come in (drawing the names). It would then be up to the individual to determine the gift and make the delivery. We would also need addresses of the individuals participating in this most joyous occasion. Mark
  14. Is Patricia really the Queen, if so I certainly apologize for any disrepect I may have show you in past posts Personally I would go to Lansing, but my preference would be St. Louis as there are many things to do. I'm sure some folks may not be interested in doing all the things mentioned above, but at least they are available. In my case, I would proabably consider staying an extra day or two, although I'm sure many may not have this opportunity. B3-er, any thoughts??? In any event, I hope everyone on this board and their families have a safe and happy holiday season! Mark
  15. ....don't listen to her Dan!
  16. Happy Birthday Deus, I hope it's been a good one!
  17. No more interest in this???? Come on guys (and ladies), join the fun!!!
  18. Dan, I'm still in for St. Louis, great city, lots to do, great jazz heritage, great food, relatively enexpensive, the Cardinals, Euclid Records, U-City Loop, River Boat Gambling (although I'm not much of a gamble, as I'd rather spend my hard earned cash on music)!!! What more could you ask for??? Sign up below: 1. Dan 2. Mark 3. 4. 5. ...... B)
  19. I second St. Louis, it's a great city with lots to see and do!!!!
  20. COUNT ME IN, SOUNDS LIKE A FUN IDEA!!! HOW 'BOUT IT B3-ER????
  21. I have family in St. Louis and visit many time a year anyway, sounds great to me. I would probably go to this convention anyway.
  22. I think I noticed that today is the birthday of Ghost of Miles....Happy Birthday David!!!
  23. How about Chicago??? I don't live there, but it close to many members and has a great jazz club (The Jazz Showcase). Mark
  24. Miles live at the Blackhawk
  25. Deep, That's the type of response that irritates people on these boards. You may not agree with what was said, but the smart ass response is not really necessary. If she mis-understood your statement or question, simply say "you didn't understand what I was asking".....just my opinion ! If you disagree, no big deal!
