  1. I'll have to check that one out. The puppet guy looks like Bill Cowher! ....looks like Kurt Russell to me!!!
  2. Been by it several times but not in it. My sister is pretty good friends with Cathy Morris, maybe she could help out....I'll look into it. m~
  3. ...not sure what the shipping cost are to the Sun Ship, but I would order directly from Mosaic as well. m~
  4. ....up for a breath of fresh air.....anyone??? Thanks! Mark
  5. But that's why I make a distinction between "home-copying" (which is to say, you borrow a CD from a friend and make a copy) and downloading. In the case of home-copying (at least in my case) it's an issue of exchange. I'll let you copy a CD (that I bought and paid for) if you let me copy one of yours (that you bought and paid for). In this case, we've BOTH paid for music and are allowing one another to share in it. You don't let *everyone* share in your music, just your friends. In the case of file-sharing services, hundreds of thousands of people all over the world can share in your music. These are people you've never met. And while you are getting something from them, it's not the same kind of "friendly exchange" that I'm talking about. Illegal file-sharing does seem to be an example of a "something for nothing" mentality. But the kind of sharing that I do is something else entirely. The same way I'd invite a friend to share in my food and drink, I let my friends share in my musical bounty (and with 2000 CDs, it's bounty indeed). Frankly, in most cases, I burn copies for friends because I'm too stingy to let them borrow my CDs themselves. "You want to hear [insert name of CD]? I'll burn you a copy." ...you both bought one but got two~~~ Not really picking on you, just poking fun!!! m~
  6. You must also take into consideration the guy like Chuck who spent his life in the industry, recording, promoting and whatever else that goes into it and then someone takes his work, copies it and passes it on.... Without guys like Chuck who put out some of this music....where would we be??? m~
  7. ...done, much appreciated! m~
  8. ....what else is new!!!
  9. Hi all, I have a black and white drawing (jpeg) and need to have part of the drawing, actually some words at the bottom of the drawing removed. Is this something that is easy to do....is there anyone that can do this for me? Thanks, Mark
  10. ...got 2 stars in Downbeat for what that's worth....one writer says "Preciousness and superficiality are a bad combo and this trio has them both in abundance"....another says "Hiromi's much touted virtuosity is readily apparent-though in a world of virtuosos, not unique"... m~
  11. Terence Blanchard and his band, pianist Aaron Parks, saxophonist Brice Winston, Lionel Loueke on guitar, Derrick Hodge on Bass and Kendrick Scott on drums performed for two sold out, jam packed shows at the Jazz Kitchen in Indy. People were lined up around the building to get in. Terence and band played mostly their originals; each store lasted 90 minutes or more. m~ ps, it's 2:35 a.m. and I just got home, gotta get to bed!!!

  14. Randy Brecker played in Indy last night with a local (very good) rhythm section. Chatted with Randy before the show, nice guy and good player. Here are a few images from the show, was told his brother is responding to some new treatment, no more info than that. m~
  15. ....you're always welcome to join us!!!!! m~
  16. Saw him a few years ago and made some nice photographs....very entertaining and very sad to hear of this!
  17. Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. Hopefully some of our other New Yorkers will chime in as well. I'll revive this as it gets a little closer. Mark
  18. Chuck, Joe's bash at the Chicago Symphony Center is Friday April 28th at 8:00. Band will include the players I mentioned. There is also pre-concert Q&A with Joe and some other Chicago jazz guys, but don't know who at this time. Tickets are currently on sale through the CSO website. Tickets for the pre-concert deal are free but you must call for tickets. There is also a birthday party at Joe's Bebop Cafe on Navy Pier (invitation only). I did get an invite but it's on the Monday I'll be in NYC; it kills me to miss it but I hope someone will make some nice photos. Because this show was part of the "Jazz at the Symphony" Series, many of the seats were already glommed up. I did manage to get a few tickets not too far from the stage. None of the seats are really that bad; I'm sure you have probably been there before. I have credentials to shoot the show but they make you shoot from the wings, which is not ideal but better than a "rap in the nuts with a hoe handle"!!! m~ Let me know if you'll make it, it would be great to get together before the show!
  19. Hi all, I will be making a trip to NYC during the first full week of May and am looking for any help I can get. I will probably hit many jazz clubs and will stay somewhere in Manhattan. Any dos/don't I should adhere to. As it get's closer, I'll look for recommendations on food, getting around, music stores, museums, galleries to see and will check the websites for shows while we are there. Interested in any thoughts any of you may have. If anyone NYorkers want to get together for a night or lunch one day, I would be into that as well. Preceding the trip, I have been invited to photograph Joe Segal's 80th Birthday bash as the Symphony Center in Chicago, which will include Ira Sullivan, Yusef Lateef, Jimmy Heath, Junior Mance, Von Freeman, Rufus Reid, Larry Gray and Tootie Heath.....will be an absolute blast. Jazz Krow, Sal and Jim Neumann will be there as well. Thanks! m~
  20. ...just got an email that the NFL officials have admitted to a mistake on the reversed interception call in the Colts game....better late than never.....I guess? m~
  21. Just heard a local news report that the Indy Colts Nick Harper was just stabbed in the knee.....by his wife a little while ago......required stitches and is probably out for tomorrows game . They live a few miles from me and there have been issues of domestic arguments in the past.....but damn!!!! m~
