    Lin Halliday

Also had a chance to see Lin a couple times before he passed....fine player!!! m~
  8. Rachel, I was sitting on the opposite side of the field (45 yard line) but directly in front of him when he got the ball....very emotional and about the most emotion you will see from the guy on the field. For the most part, there was no one within 15 feet of him during the entire game. I was a little sad when they had a moment of silence for his son and right before it ended, I hear a vendor yell........ice cold beer!!! m~
  9. I received Cannonball's "Domination" a few days ago from YourMusic. The notes and cd say Cannonball but when I play it, smooooooothe guitar comes out of my speakers. I couldn't believe Cannonball would put something like this out so I listened to some clip at CD Universe......ugh, wrong packaging and wrong disc. I'm sure they will replace it; anyone else get a copy of this from yourmusic? m~
  10. ...you are correct about that....the world would be a better place for all of us. I was at the game yesterday, it was great to see the reception (and his reaction) he received. m~
  11. ....I think my next set will be Gerald Wilson!
  12. Eric, You are correct on the year, these were 2005 shows. I was at many of the same events, although I missed Stanko, Iyer and Rollins. m~
  13. Thanks for the link Claude, met Dave a few years ago, great guy! Great new on Michael, here's hoping for a complete recovery. m!
  14. Happy Birthday JS, hope to hook up with you in Chicago later this year! m~
  15. If I were you, I would probably head to Birdland first, to see the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Then to the Cafe Bohemia, to see Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. Finally, in the unlikely event of getting enough of Duke and Blakey, to the Composer, for Eddie Costa. Thanks and Happy New Year!
  16. I am looking for the following cds; anyone with an extra??? Thanks! m~
  17. If they are reading this thread, they won't now!!!
  18. "...trying is the first step to failure" Homer Simpson
  19. ...great photos of Terry and musician/friends around his pool and piano in the book "Jazz Life".....just your regualr pool party with Wynton Kelly, Horace Silver, Paul Chambers, Mel Lewis, Buddy Clark, Sonny Stitt and others. Some of them look like they had never seen a pool. Great shot of Paul Chambers playing bass with a dress shirt on and one of those "short, short" swim suits of the day .... m!
  20. ....how aobut 4.21.57 when you have the time!!! Thanks, m~
  21. Great pick-up, Erik!!!
  22. I received my sets today, two days after ordering them...damn, that's fast. One concern I have is that several of the discs have a couple of tiny blacks spots on them (lable side)...not sure if it's ink or what but I can't rub them off.....any thoughts???? Also, my Pacific Jazz Piano Trio is set #4449 (of 5000), could it really be this close to being gone??? The Brookmeyer is #3836 and the Tolliver is #482. m~ Unlike the big boxes, the Selects are not sold in sequential order, so the number of a particular set sold does not indicate anything about prior sales. Regarding the black spots, if they don't affect play, they probably occurred during label printing and aren't anything to worry about. However, if they bother you, just send an email to Cindy at Mosaic (csr@mosaicrecords.com) and explain the situation, and she'll have replacement discs sent to you "no-questions-asked" (and without your having to return the affected discs). Thanks Ron, I haven't played the cds yet other than to download to my idod (will spin them all today) and I don't think they will be a problem. Cindy has always been helpful in the past. Thanks again. m~
  23. Here is a flyer I have from Slugs in 1967....hell of a lineup! m~
