  1. Yeah, it kinda was. Like I said, it certainly didn't seem to hurt them. But I remember how startled I was when a more musically inclined friend told me in college that he was sure I could drum better than Maureen Tucker. So I listened closely to the drum parts and had to admit he was probably right.
  2. Yeah. In this case, it's much like when one of those French New Wave directors used a non-actor for a supporting role in a film. The movie still works, but it would probably have been a bit better with an actor.
  3. Mo Tucker of The Velvet Underground could barely seem to keep time, though it didn't seem to matter with them. Heavy metal drummers and "art rock" drummers almost always seemed to bug me, partly because they so often tried to do too much, if you know what I mean. Of course, the fact that I tend to not like those styles of rock doesn't help.
  4. Congrats, Brownie, and Happy Birthday! And many happy returns!
  5. That's funny, I was not long ago listening to Zombie Heaven.
  6. Wait, Woolworth's was in the UK? Huh? You're blowin' my mind!
  7. No. This is the Mike Fitzgerald in question: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showuser=101 Actually, that's the one I was thinking of; I just shortened the name.
  8. Was that the "Mike F" who used to post here? That's a little bit surprising. Or maybe just depressing.
  9. A good album, indeed, but I prefer the original title: "My Son, the Drummer."
  10. If you like Weston at all, you will "not hate" the Select.
  11. Really? Well, go figure. BTW, he's one of my favorite ten-OR-ists.
  12. First time I've ever heard the word "saxophonist" accented on the second syllable rather than the first. I'm still reeling. Is that standard British pronunciation?
  13. Funny that the fire started from the bottom of the cup, far away from where the friction of the rubbing was taking place.
  14. Doesn't that count as being kicked off of one internet group? Can't really count it as being "kicked off" if you ask to be removed, at least that's what logic tells me. Although you obviously think that Mike Fitzgerald drove you to it, so there's that. Whatever. Something tells me you'll always have a home here, Allen. Unless you ask to be removed.
  15. There was a "Cheapo Records" in Central Square, Cambridge, MA. Don't know if it's still there.
  16. Yeah; it seems like a nice building to look at in itself perhaps, but not an ideal way to look at paintings. And really, isn't that the ultimate function of an art museum, to provide a good space to look at art?
  17. I hear FLW was an avid roller-skater! I wouldn't be surprised.
  18. You've really got to hand it to a museum whose main distinction is that it's particularly easy to roller-skate through.
  19. Happy Birthday ...and may all your Christmases be bright. Or something like that.
  20. Wish I could help you. Come to think of it, it would be really cool if I could play bass well, and lived in Maine. Now I'm feeling useless....
  21. Every time I see her now I hear those slashing strings from Psycho.
  22. Well, I agree with you there. I had a feeling going to bed with her was a mistake, but now she's acting all possessive and SCARE-ree. She's trouble with a capitol "T". Not very smart of Don, to say the least.
  23. Well, I missed it before, so...quintuple thanks!!!!!
  24. Anyone see the latest episode last weekend? Really good one, I thought.
