  1. Yet another case of, why didn't I buy this album sooner? Great album!
  2. As well it should! When my email is up and running again, I will see if any details are mentioned.
  3. Not to be a suck up, but I listened to "Waiting For The Boogaloo Sisters" all summer. It never left my truck the first 2 months I owned it. Highly recommended whilst driving!
  4. Ex "mats" frontman Paul Westerberg has consistently delivered as a solo artist.
  5. Eddie McFadden. Also, don't forget Thornel Schwartz.
  6. Music Direct sent me an email indicating that they were available for preorder. Unfortunately I can't access my email at the moment. Check out amusicdirect.com they may have the details on their site.
  7. Oh yeah, one other thing... Who was Jimmy Smith's first call guitarist? B)
  8. I Love Grant as much as the next guy, but some of the most exciting organ/guitar interplay I've heard in a long time is between Kenny and Shirley on the album "Hustlin".
  9. This looks like an interesting, if not bizarre twist. Track 36 from their latest. Take Off Your Cool performed by OutKast / Norah Jones - 5:13
  10. Haven't heard it all, however, I really like the single "Hey Ya!" Old school with a modern twist.
  11. CUBS WIN!!!!!!!!
  12. Done!
  13. What's the scoop on "Nancy Wilson & Cannonball Adderley"? I heard a cut off this while driving to work this morning. I'm assuming this is a nice ballads/standards album that is well worth buying?
  14. I recently heard a god awful version of "Stolen Moments" while having breakfast in a hotel resturant. Now that's wrong!
  15. Let me compliment you on your choice of guitars. Teles are great all round guitars. As far as your question goes regarding fret board materials. I don't disagree with anything that's been said, however, I really doubt that you will hear any major differences in tone. Remember tone it's mostly in the fingers not the fretboard. B) I've own, or have owned a number of Teles. My personnal favorites are the "52 tele reissue" and the chambered maghony "Telesonic" with DeArmond pickups. I very rarely play these guitars any more since I got my jazz box, however, I just can't part with them. I've also been lucky enough to play various vintage teles including a real 52, 62, Esquires, and various thinlines. These are amazing guitars. Leo got it right the first time! And for the record I like my tele with a maple fret board. It looks cooler! B)
  16. Coltrane's album "Ole" comes to mind. A very fine album. Another one that comes to mind is "Jazz Impressions of Japan" by the Dave Brubeck Quartet. Stylistically, it's different from KOB, however they have an similiar feeling overall. At least to my ear. Two underrated albums in my book.
  17. It's a little known fact that George Russell was instrumental in the making of the first couple of Carpenters albums. Heady stuff!
  18. "It's No Time To Be Blue" on Kenny Burrell's latest album, Blue Muse, is "Blue Bossa" with lyrics added.
  19. I'm there! Both Et Cetera and Schizophrenia have been on my to buy list for a while. Come to think of it, there is a lot of Wayne's material on my buy list as of late. Could the Morgan/Shorter Mosaic be far off?
  20. I really enjoy Django. I have the Mosaic and assorted others, many of which have already been mentioned. I would just like to suggest a Stephane Grappelli album, that may be of interest to you guys called "Young Django". This is a great album, not really a tribute album per se. I consider it a celebration of some really great music. It features Stephane on violin (and a little piano), NHOP on bass, and Philip Catherine and Larry Coryell on guitars. Highly, highly recommended to any Django fan.
  21. I think you just explained to me why the album just clicked all of a sudden. I have been listening to a lot of older Wayne this past summer. When I listened to FPL the other day I did get the feeling that he was weaving the old and the new in a very exciting, creative, and forward thinking manner. You nailed it. Thanks!
  22. Thanks Mike, I've been thinking about buying this album for a while. This might put me over the edge. Also, recently I heard an interesting version of "Sweet Georgia Brown" from this album.
  23. Tight band on this disc. The rhythm section just kills!
  24. Not vocalese, but didn't Hendrick's write lyrics to "GoodBye Pork Pie Hat"? From what I can recall at the moment they are rather poignant. "....Lester is playing what he's feeling" P.S. Seems to me that there were two different sets of lyrics written for this tune. Does any one know who wrote the other version?
