    Anthony Braxton

been wondering the same myself. It took me over a year to really absorb some of the Arista material where I was on a personal level with it. I'm on a different continuum right now anyway.........

  4. my son's favorite: Cecil plays the first lick...
  5. It was like hearing Mingus, when I heard Ming. Concise arrangements. Played by excellent musicians who were obviously into what their leader was laying down. And wouldn;t play anything but their best, And the trio sessions with Hopkins and McCall...... Or the duets with Hicks on DIW. "Casual Brilliance"

  8. Your have one of the better titles. great cover as well!
  9. there's a tune on 80 Degrees Below '82 that is worth the trip alone. I forget the name but I am pretty sure Threadgill plays tenor on it. It's a blues.
  10. Grateful Dead - January 30, 1978 Uptown Theatre - Chicago, IL if the Franklin's don't get you......
  11. how about the November '66 Graz date? Love Sonny's playing on There Will Never Be Another You. Seems like the song was written for him. Casual brilliance and then some.
  12. Pig owned Hard To Handle IMO. I remember hearing an amazing Midnight Hour on the Grateful Dead Hour when I was in middle school. It blew my mind. You couldn't find bootlegs(here in New Orleans) that were worth a damn back then(59th generation tapes) so I would record the Dead hour as often as I could.
  13. love Dewey on Expectations. Common Mama!
  14. the boot from a '97 Regatta Bar gig with J.Redman, McBride and Blade is kickin. I saw the tour in Seattle. It was my first jazz show that I caught when I moved there from Hawaii. Those were the days......

    Funny Rat

I saw Brotzmann/Parker/Wertmuller at the Vision fest in 2001. Will never forget Brotz jumping up into the air playing his tenor on the final note. He was happy and talkative at the end of the gig. Which was rare when I actually used to get the chance to see him regularly.
  16. yeah, it's all in the fingers. One Too Many Salty Swift And Not Goodbye.
  17. I remember Clifton. I can't really say why I do but the handle is in my memory and I wish his family peace. godspeed
