  1. Agree with Lon on both counts. But I'm in denial, too. I don't buy many jazz recordings. Just once in a while. Really.
  2. -2 Farenheit. Western Canada gets very cold this time of the year.
  3. Appears to be in stock at the moment at cduniverse. I just ordered one. Supposed to ship in 1-2 days. Usually I order directly from uptown, but this was a better price and less for shipping, since I ordered something else with it. http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=9056442&cart=1511494723
  4. Haven't got this one yet, but I always get my Uptowns right from the source. I'm sure it's in stock there. http://www.uptownrecords.net/home/
  5. Until recently they used to be known as Mark's Work Warehouse - mostly, as the name implies, clothes, work boots, jackets, vests etc. for workers engaged in physical, outdoor, or factory type occupations, plus they carried some casual clothing (big on jeans and sweaters and coats). They changed their name to Mark's in order to expand on the more casual side of the market though I'm not sure they've yet gone into more formal wear like suits and jackets. Just about everything else but that, I think .
  6. The McLean is a great set. Wonderful place to start. My first Mosaic order in '92 or '93 consisted of 3 sets - Basie Roulette Live; Kenton -The Holman/Russo charts & the Tina Brooks set (on vinyl). Not bad for the first order.
  7. That is a terrific set. The Basie at Birdland stuff is simply awesome. Somebody at WBGO was clueless. But it's good it finally fell into the hands of someone who will appreciate it.
  8. Surprised myself with this one a bit: James Carter (on alto) playing Sun Ra's beautiful ballad "Hour of Parting". Lovely performance. From: James Carter on the Set (DIW)
  9. Yeah, I feel that way this morning. There are several LP's mentioned in the McCoy Tyner thread that I had and sold. Wish I had kept them now.
  10. Atlantis is good and definitely worth having/hearing but it's not as good as Enlightenment (IMHO). I'm weird I guess, but I really like Fly with the Wind. Jim is right - it's a Tyner/Billy Cobham fireworks show, but it really works IMHO.
  11. Pretty much describes it for me, too Bill. But you're a much more mature connoisseur than I am! And of course we could say this about many things in life.
  12. It's still available from Mosaic at their regular price. A little more than this deal, but not too much more .
  13. Have a good day, David. Happy Birthday!
  14. One of the truly great Mosaic sets IMHO. Indispensable.
  15. Happy Birthday, Leeway!!
  16. in 1972, age 16 or 17
  17. Thanks for the birthday greetings everyone!!
