Bill Evans - Blue in Green: The Concert in Canada (Milestone)
with Eddie Gomez & Marty Morell from 1974
and
Duke Ellington - The Duke Box (Storyville)
Disc 7 - Recordings from 1945, NYC
Enrico Pieranunzi Trio - Seaward (Soul Note)
with Hein van de Geyn & André Ceccarelli
To my knowledge, Pieranunzi's trio with van de Geyn and Ceccarelli has only made two records. Along with Seaward, this same group is heard on Live in Paris (Challenge). Both of these records are STELLAR.
It's exciting to see so much YOUNG talent -- Ozzie Albies, Ronald Acuña, Dansby Swanson, et al. And there are even more talented young players down on the farm.
No matter what happens this year, the future looks bright.
Speaking of the Yankees, the Atlanta "Baby Braves" -- my team -- come in to NYC today for a three-game stand. The first game is tonight. The Braves are on a bit of a roll after taking three-in-a-row from St. Louis. It'll be interesting to see how they do against the Yanks.
The Braves are FAR exceeding anyone's expectations going into the season. It's been fun.
This again:
Joe Newman - The Complete RCA Victor Recordings (1955 - 1956): The Basie Days (RCA Jazz Tribune Series)
Disc 1
Joe sounds so good here. Everything goes down like smooth whiskey.
Also:
Jim Snidero - Streams of Consciousness (Savant)
erwbol -- Liebman has reissued the music as downloads on his own label, Vaju Productions. Here it is on amazon.com.
Of course, downloads aren't the same as CDs -- but they're better than nothing.
Coleman Hawkins - The Hawk Flies (Milestone 2-fer)
LP 1 - These cuts were originally released as 78 RPM singles. They include Monk's very first recordings.
EDIT:
And now LP 2 - This was originally released as The Hawk Flies High.
