  1. I agree with the suspensions. This gives sports a bad name. No one should be randomly hitting fans in the stands. I don't follow the NBA much anymore. I guess I just don't identify with its image of selfishness and self-promotion. The NFL, on the other hand, keeps all this stuff underwraps. I'm not sure if I necessarily agree with the "don't take your helmet off" rule in the NFL, but I'm starting to understand why they frown on self-promotion. I'm the first to say I love Terrell Owens' antics, but I wouldn't watch the NFL if their image followed the NBA's. TEAM should come first in the NFL; and it should come first in the NBA as well. Still, there should be some room for self-expression, which is what Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson search for.
  2. Shamefully weak on Joe Henderson...
  3. Dang Chuck, Being you can be dangerous in the outside world. Keep those types of comments on the Organissimo board and try to adopt a low profile outside...
  4. I'm with Leeway on this one. It's fine to offer stuff, but we've all got ebay search engines. Don't need newbies to post spam. No need for that. It's different with regular posters announcing their ebay offerings. We know them and they contribute elsewhere. For the record, I believe I've bought from Glenn in the past on ebay. He's a good seller; but we don't need his spam. Thanks, Paul
  5. Damn, what frustrations! Hope things work out. Keep up the strength, both of you...
  6. Sex obviously sells, Jim. All the dry humping apparently leads to higher ratings. I guess I don't care too much because I don't watch the stuff. It's apparently what the people want.
  7. yeah, but those dances of his...
  8. I also confess to a liking for T.O. I don't understand why he's so unpopular. The guy is funny and full of personality. His antics are a scream. He's also a damned good football player. Why all the hate for Terrell Owens?
  9. I didn't see the skit because I didn't watch the game. TV is full of smut. I think most of the programs market sex. I don't watch any of them, because I find them boring, but I see the advertisements along with samples of sex-laden dialogue. Anything to attract viewers. The sponsors think that the audience for football are mostly males, so they probably figured they could get away with the skit. I dunno. I guess keep the sexual stuff out of sports. I don't know. I don't really care very much about the issue. My kid can watch anything he wants. Saves me from having to "explain" the birds and the bees...
  10. Watch the careless editorializing. Never know who might be reading this stuff... B-) Happy Birthday!
  11. Excellent description and very true! F) It's a terrific chance to get involved in an overdue family fight. Haven't been in one since last Christmas!
  12. Gosh Jim, I've just logged on for the first time today to read this news. I sure hope Allison will be allright. Stay strong. Paul
  13. Looks like Steelers and Pats are destined for the AFC championship showdown. Jets would prohably be the next best team in the AFC right now.
  14. I don't even know if I've ever visited a dollar store. My tastes are expensive... Well I guess I did follow my wife into one years ago. I'm told they're great places to buy those cheater glasses for middleaged folk like myself who can no longer read without some magnification.
  15. Pats game starting soon. I'm wondering which of the injured players listed as "doubtful" or "questionable" will end up playing tonight. Bill's D is tough. We should win this one though.
  16. Chuck follows football?? Bears are definitely on the way up. Bigtime defence. Have to work a bit on the other side of the ball. -_-
  17. Good question, Dan. In my case, I think it is still a bit early. I don't even know if I'll have a job by Xmas.
  18. Since we're sharing personal exam horror stories, the 1st year comprehensive exams here at the Yale econ PhD program were horrendous. For the last month I was studying 14 hours a day, seven days a week. Only breaks were for eating and sleeping. Guy Wow! Really appreciate it when you post some of your "lessons of economics" on this board. I've certainly enjoyed them. It seems you are philosophically aligned to the Economist magazine and it's writers.
  19. Really??? I did not know this!!! I must consort with these men of whom you speak... they will be invaluable allies in my bid to topple this country's intractably capitalist regime!!! Many, many, many congratulations to you, Comrade Conn. You are highly worthy of the better employment that you seek. Come on, Red. As if you didn't already know this. America is fervidly democratic in its political ideals while the corporations are Stalinistic to the hilt. Corporate boards are little politburos and they run top-down. Zounds!!! With purges, rehabilitations, and what-have-you??? Sudden policy about-faces, endless committee meetings, and protracted factional warfare??? Sly hypocrisy and backbiting betrayals??? I am so happy I think I may cry!!! You've got it!!

Thanks for the kind words, Pete and Guy.
  21. Speed and medical care just don't belong in the same universe unfortunately. Seems like most of the medical profession are overworked and overstressed. Wish I had something valuable to add, but I'm a medical dunce. I only know about kidney stones...
  22. Agree here.
  23. A very cogent question. Jim is self-employed.
