Does anyone know?

The stuff landed right on the keyboard. I sponged up what I could with paper towels and then turned the machine over to see a little liquid coming out of the back somewhere--I think it was one of the drives on the side actually. Hey, diet pop doesn't have sugar, does it? I mean, why the Hell do I drink it for? -

If it's only the motherboard which needs to be replaced, then we should be fine. I'm sure they'll take care of it. Wonder if pop-spills are covered by warranty? -
I was reaching for my Diet Coke in a McDonald's takeout cup at lunch today when Grey's thread came to view with the words, "JRVGs" and "Cheap!" intermixed. It was enough to send my pop flying and I spilled half the drink on my work laptop. I tell you, it should have been filmed!! Actually, my computer was in the process of shutting down when I spilled the drink. The cup almost collapsed in my hand, and it took my best effort to prevent the whole thing from dumping on my laptop. Anyway, I sent the machine out to the "tech support" department via intermail. Does anybody know whether the computer is now ruined? It certainly wouldn't start after the drenching. I grabbed a bunch of paper towels and tried to dry up everything, but some liquid came out from the bottom of the machine...yuck! Will it start again once it is completely dry or is the machine totally ruined? Anyone know?

I guess I understand what you're saying, though I believe we're all basically invisible to others...

Dan, Could you do me a favor and pop over to the Politics threads and say that to Brownian Motion for me? I'd do it, but I've got a kind of reputation around here for being sweet and moderate and reasonable...and Weizy's too urbane to say it as well.

Errors and Contradictions in the Bible

Interesting comment, Rainy. As far as Black American achievements, you could very well be right. The media and public do seem to ignore great achievements on the part of Black Americans. However, from a political and media sense, Black Americans are far from invisible. They are very visible, at least from my point of view. It seems that that segment of the population gets more political and media coverage than you would otherwise expect from 12% of the population. One could even argue that White America is absolutely obsessed with Black Americans. This would be the Jimmy Baldwin argument. Ellison wrote "Invisible Man" in the 1950s or early 1960s, didn't he? Hasn't the American zeitgeist been modified since those times? On a personal note, I remember, I couldn't finish Ellison's book, though I had no trouble with Baldwin's, Walker's, Toni Morrison, or Richard Wright's books. Should I give him another try? Is it still relevant?

Go defend him in the political forum. Wimp. Good idea! Come back to Politics, Dan, and put some of those pompous Bush-haters in their place! Don't worry, no one pays any attention to 7/4's "posts" anyway... BOO!

What Ray said!!!

No company should be obligated to commemorate artists of any particular race. The whole idea is repugnant. At the same time, it was awfully stupid and narrowminded to leave out the great black musicians. Pretty damned shallow, but that's corporate America for you.

--The time when Grey offers his cds in the mornings. (Man, some of us are working folks!!) Doesn't he ever tire of selling them to the same people all the time?

Since I spend nearly 3 hours each day commuting to and from work, many of my dislikes deal with driving. --I hate tailgaters too. --I equally hate slowpokes who can't be budged from the "fast lane." --Trucks which shoot pebbles at my windshield. --Accident holdups --Road construction...yuck!! --Bosses --The Corporate propaganda you must go through whenever applying for a job. --How Corporations operate in this country. Errors and Contradictions in the Bible
connoisseur series500 replied to Shrdlu's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
That may be your God, Shrdlu; it isn't mine. I am basically not interested in the contradictions of the Bible. I have read the Old Testament in its entirety (rough going for sure.) There are much better Elizabethan writings. Shakespeare and Milton are better. Sorry... -

I was part of the crowd at BNBB looking for a new home. We tried out a couple of places and I still recall the humor of Catesta pushing the censorship envelope on one of the sites. Things just didn't seem the same. Mike Ricci was doing his best to welcome us on his board, but it just wasn't the same. I registered early on this board--don't happen to know my number offhand, but it took me a week or two before I really started to post. Jazzmoose played a role as he pm'd me to say he was happy that I was participating here. Basically, I was following Catesta around...
