  1. Very neat, Knife. I see the Roland Kirk Mercury box on center-left. Is that the one you're selling on ebay? (Don't get Evan too excited here... B) ) Need some Prestige/OJC/Riverside/Fantasy stuff. You look real heavy on Blue Notes.
  2. You mean, financial securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, annuities, insurance) right? Look me up, man. Serious.
  3. I've gone past my "too many" stage already and I'm still buying stuff. I think I've slowed down some though. The only way for me to completely stop is to replace the addiction with another. Forget stopping it altogether. I can go back to spending money on books or something else. I have bought cds that I already own several times by error. Haven't done so lately.
  4. There's also the possibility that he might now shop up afterall. He might just want to get into your head. Can't be much fun on his part to go to a gig just to mess it up. Hopefully the bouncers didn't get a good night's sleep and are feeling ornery.
  5. Great story Ted. (Especially after wading through DTMX's schematics on the previous post. )
  6. Don't bother with it, Catesta. It's really bad. My local store wouldn't even buy it back! I was disappointed with Clifford Brown with Strings. Very sappy. No meat to it at all. Yet the Charlie Parker with strings is outstanding.
  7. admit it Paul, the 70s live stuff is cool too! Of course. (Couw sent me a live recording from the 70s.)
  8. Your words speak my own opinion, almost exactly. Sometimes I enjoy being apathetic. You know? My job is just something I do to be able to enjoy my non-work time. I work to live. I don't live to work. Congrats on finding something better to do with your work hours. But, keep enjoying your non-work hours just the same. The non-work hours have always been what's more important to me. At the same time, it's a bittersweet situation. You have to spend so much of your time at work, why not find a way to enjoy it, and maximize your income, as much as possible. Beautifully stated, Wesbed. Pretty much describes my feelings. At 44, I'm long past grandiose ambitions. I did, however, despise my previous job and actually enjoy this new job. I'm gabbing with people most of the time, and I like doing that! BTW, if any of you live in Dearborn or Ypsilanti or Ann Arbor, let me know and we can hook up at the bank. GregK: I'll pm you when I know I will be in the Ann Arbor branch. I'll still be able to post but won't be able to maintain my former postrate. All hopes of catching Moose are gone! :rsmile: Positive side is that you all don't have to read as much of my drivel as before!
  9. I remember that as well. I was one of the "Booger" Ervin fans that he laid into. I like his music very much. Haven't really come across a bad session yet. All the "Books" are good.
  10. Then you're really missing out... I particularly like his early Mercury work. "We Free Kings" is awesome. I like some of his Atlantic stuff too.
  11. Thanks for the sentiments everyone. I'll try to post whenever I can. I'll get used to the situation. GregK: I spend a day each week in the individual branches, so the commute will always be from Toledo. Everything will be fine.
  12. Might as well; I won't have the energy to pick it up. Long hours ahead. Once my...er...stamina kicks in, I can perhaps post during the week when I get back from work. At least I won't have to worry about Winter for the next 8 months. Man...those Michigan drivers...
  13. Kept it as vague as possible. I'm no dumbo!
  14. I travel 130 miles a day. Lots of time to listen to cds in the car. BTW, the Eric Kloss arrived today. Thanks.
  15. I started a new job this week. Been planning the switch for quite some time now. I now work in the securities department of a large bank and will be responsible for four branches in Michigan (two in Dearborn, one in Ypsilanti, and an in-store branch in Ann Arbor.) It will mean significantly more money for me, but it will take a couple months to get established before that happens. In the meantime, I will be working longer hours than before and will be spending a lot less time on this board. I can still participate but it will have to be on weekends. I miss all you guys already! I'm ambivalent about it all, but again, the money will be good.
  16. Yeah, personally I wouldn't mind a bit if Berigan chose to delete this thread. good grief, I'd take a million threads like this, before I 'd want to see another on Cannibals! HEY!!!
  17. You paid a good penny for it, Dave, but that's the cost of wanting it NOW. With patience, people can get this box for less. I was lucky in that I wanted it NOW and got it pretty cheap on ebay. Only had to fight off one other bidder and he was...shall we say, cooperative?
  18. I know that Knife is retrenching his collection, but selling his Roland Kirk box?
  19. Good Luck, Jazz!
  20. So what are you doing, just boosting your post count? Hang on; let me edit this a couple of times... No doubt about it; and this quick response here adds another!
  21. I don't drink alcohol anymore, but I do have a few beers whenever I watch Organissimo live. I won't touch anything below the quality of Canadian beer. Heinekin is a can't-lose option for me. Old Milwaukee? You mean, "Old mold?" That's what we used to call it in college. Can't stand the stuff, but then most other American beers are as bad. I do agree with Wesbed on that one.
