CD Antitrust Litigation
connoisseur series500 replied to Son-of-a-Weizen's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Welcome to the bullshit world of class action lawsuits, Chuck. The financial world gets hit with them all the time and all they do is drive up cost for the consumer, without providing any real restitution for victims. Man, if I could get my hands on a class action lawyer, I'd....and I'd.... and I'd.... you get the idea. (The bastards!) Is this a comment about John Edwards? (class action lawyers) Another reason not to vote for the bastard. -
FS: Lou Donaldson, Lush Life
connoisseur series500 replied to Peter Johnson's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Aside from the cool cover, I just couldn't get into it. Pete obviously agrees. The funny thing is that Lou Donaldson was terrific at playing ballads. This session just fell flat. Everyone was asleep at the studio or Lou was fatigued from a night of soul jazz. -

Yes, that would make sense. -

The good news is that many of the local shops which have turned to selling used cds also sell new ones. Hopefully, that will help them survive. -
I love "Groove" Holmes and have a lot of his stuff. Not those two cds, however. Can they be compared to any of his other works?

Rooster's gonna order from Dusty Groove soon...

Look's like Dusty's (the bastards!) just picked up Jack Wilson w/Roy Ayers, "Ramblin" again. Good cd at a decent price. -
Brad only buys from Grey.

Oh yes, the in print v.s. oop issue. Forgot about that one. I don't buy much in print stuff, but when I do, I usually buy new as with new sets of BN Conns or RVGS and the like. Most of my purchases are imports or out of print stuff.

What? Put him to work at Dusty Groove? Almost as bad as Dusty Groove. (The bastards!) -
I look for it used. Then I buy it new if I can't find a used copy. Rationale? Collectors try to save money as best as they can, because there's always MORE to buy. I wouldn't have a very good collection, nor would I have been even motivated to develop one if I had to purchase everything new. Used cds or books are as good as new copies in terms of quality. We can't say the same for used furniture or used appliance or used automobile. Cds and books and other collectible items lend themselves nicely to secondhand sales.

I'd like to hear your position. I would too; and chances are high that I would agree with him. I smell something foul here. BTW, I filed for the refund, but I'm the first to admit that I didn't think out the ramifications while doing it. -

up for air. (Man, this one got buried quickly!) -
There's the rub; it was Johnny E's signature he was after.

Yes, indeed. I just got back to the board after the crash and just saw your post. Very interesting upbringing. Swaziland and Ethiopia are very different places. I now forgive you for all your eccentricities, Lon!
-
What were you doing in Africa, Lon? You probably already mentioned it in the past, but I've forgotten. Was that because your Dad worked as a minister outside the country?

While Bradley sits in front of his computer waiting for Grey, I've got the opposite problem. I managed to jump on his last sale with a degree of celerity which belies my normally placid nature... I'm happy with my purchase, however... I ended up buying a duplicate copy of Grant Green, "Goin West." JRVG edition. I, therefore, offer mine up for sale at the same price, only I've got to add a couple bucks shipping, because I will have to ship it from my place now. So it will be $16 postage paid. Trade offers will be entertained. (No cowrie shells, gaudy beads, exotic fabric or koala nuts accepted as payment)
-
In fact, you were waiting for Grey so intensely that you incorrectly spelled "waiting." Pretty sick!

You can always count on Beri to introduce something interesting. I figured she killed her sister because she found out the sister was going with the guy... Call me dumbo-path!

Do you mean, Tom, that the single cd "highlights" is not representative of the set? That single cd is probably the best Miles I've ever heard.
