  1. Hey deuce: Stuff it!! Don't you know what these smilies represent??
  2. I think I have their CD. "Ron and Juan's Greatest Hits" Yeah, the melody plays over and over and over again.
  3. Let's talk to the Red Menace. I suppose there are still some facilities available in Kolyma for two staunch believers of the Party?
  4. Don't spread your resources out too thin, Weizy. Focus on Johnny!
  5. Thanks, WHINEY, CLASP!
  6. No, I wouldn't, P.D. I have never reported anyone before and I don't plan to start. This is not a police State. If you can't get along with someone in the world, even though they don't have any contact with you, do you then "report" them? You are being quite rational, but you cannot claim noninvolvement when you reported someone. That's involvement, friend. Peace.
  7. Shoulda known better. Self-reliant Midwestern boy!
  8. Everyone is welcome, here, including you Phil. Welcome!
  9. Cool! I'm interested in this stuff. Make sure you bring up some of your study discussions on this board. BTW, what can you do with that degree? (Probably heard that one from your Dad!) Just curious....
  10. Great words, Jim. Thanks.
  11. Oh, that longed for stardom......lost......gasp!! Nevertheless, we shall persevere. We without talent will eventually be discovered; it's inevitable. It's how our country works. B)
  12. Just curious: what's he done to you, Deus? I mean he's started a thread specifically naming Bev and Chris, so they can have legitimate beefs, but what has he done on Organissimo to specifically attack you? You can disagree with his posts or his language or whatever, but as long as it is not directed at you, I don't see why you should be so easily offended. Now I admit that I haven't read every single thread on this board. Perhaps he did directly attack you? Must be something bad cause you've got the lynch rope already in your hands.
  13. Hey Mooser: my chance too! I play a mean foot tap; and did I mention the fact that I've got this kind of dance.... -_-
  14. I support the right to arm bears. or in this case deers. Keep the gun outa Joe's hands; he's likely to blow himself up. -_-
  15. Come on! There's gotta be some place in Cleveland to buy jazz cds. I would like to know myself as I'm only two hours away. I mean, a city of that size; surely there's more than just rock and roll...?
  16. Lots of shit being worked off here. I don't know what's going on, but I can say this: 1. People often have to work off their lingering anger after being banned. We all did it in glorious detail when the BNBB closed down. We hashed out the GregM banning for pages afterwards; and Kevin even chose to leave as a result. I don't necessarily blame Wingy for revisiting certain issues. Still, I wouldn't do it in the same manner; but HELL we're all different. 2. Interesting explanation by P.D. Sounds very logical and it would be hard to dispute given its rationality. Still...P.D. did complain to Mike, so he is/was involved in the problem. 3. Chris A. might be strongminded and quick to respond to posts from the Conservative sector, but the Chris that I know is also quite fair. I find it hard to believe that he would work behind the scenes to get you removed from AAJ, Wingy. Chris doesn't hide his feelings. He doesn't strike me as the surreptitious and sneaky type. Just doesn't match. 4. It's clear that there's a certain group (whether rightly or wrongly) are carrying some kind of animus against Wingy. May I suggest that you avoid posts that he initiates? I mean, if you don't like the guy, why read posts that he starts? Just a simple question. 5. Wingy: will you SETTLE DOWN?? Start one thread to work out your lingering resentments and keep it to that. Don't spread the shit all around the board. 6. I don't necessarily agree with many of Wingy's comments, but I do LIKE a guy who is willing to challenge others, and who has the intellectual courage to go against the mainstream. It's not important to me, but Bessie Smith is most likely a blues singer more than a jazz singer. He is correct on that; however, I don't know how that might be important. 7. Rooster: no need to hold your hands over your eyes. Just move to another thread. Let's have some honest discourse here. We've got a lot of very knowledgeable people on this board such as Chris, and Chuck, and Mike Fitzgerald, Wingy, Jim Sangrey, and Lon. However, we other dunces should have the intellectual courage to disagree when we have to. We shouldn't have to sit in a corner like a bunch of toothy bobbleheads bobbing our heads up and down in agreement whenever one of the "jazz gods" on this board says something. I don't agree with Wingy's style and manner a lot of the time, but I really dig the guy's courage to disagree when he must.
  17. Real dickheads, Joe. I'd be pretty steamed myself.
  18. I think it would be a good idea to invite Kevin back also.
  19. Given that, I think I'll try hanging out here for a while, if that okay with you good folks... Yes, something of an AAJ refugee here. A few of you guys may know me, and to those who don't yet - hey now! I don't think I know you, but welcome! :rsmile:
  20. Where's J.R. Monterose in the poll?
  21. Better yet: drive 2 hours to see me here in Toledo and I'll take you to some places.
  22. Check out the various Allied Record Exchanges for used cds. I live two hours from Cleveland and rarely go for jazz cds. There's a Record Exchange in Parma Hts, Elyria, Medina, North Olmsted, Cuyahoga Falls, Canton, Fairlawn, and Solon. I don't know my way around there, so don't ask...
  23. I've been banned from the mainstream all my life, Joe. That's the way I like it! B)
  24. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to let volunteers know how many people wish to receive the blindfold discs. We're talking close to 50 or so? People should be aware of the potential costs involved. I'm just a "receiver" but I always promise to post my impressions, which is what the blindfold creator wants to see in return for making the disc.
  25. One of our biggest strengths here on this board is the fact that we are close knit and know each other very well. We have the freedom to tease each other as well as compliment each other without sounding maudlin. This is all wonderful. However... Don't let it also be our weakness. We have to keep open doors to new members with new thoughts and personalities and ideas. Imagine what it must be like for a new member to enter our halls...they see a very tight community and they might not feel that they belong. They might also feel inhibited about expressing their personalies and ideas, especially if it might run counter to the prevailing Zeitgeist. We should welcome everybody. The world works that way. If someone gets out of line then they can be jumped (and they most likely will,) but I don't want an antiseptic and narrowminded world. I'd much prefer to be banished to poster hell than stay in a hypocritical and narrowminded bulletin board. We aren't that way now; let's not strive to be so. Peace.
