  1. This is very worrisome to me. I don't bother to keep up with my sales on half.com and just assume that they get things right. Does this mean we should be checking all the time? Oops, I think I already know the answer to that one. Let us know, Bob, if you are able to get hold of anyone over there and inform us about the proceedures. Thanks
  2. Seems to me that Webster's is a little slow in adding important words that have already been widely circulated. Here's an egregious omission: Mcpissed. (n) 1. A condition of great agitation caused as a result of slow lines at the drive thru. 2. Feelings of ill will aroused when one discovers that one could never complete that monopoly promotion in a hundred years.
  3. You'd think so by my name, but things can be deceiving! Am open to contributions.
  4. I loved this session the day I got it. Funny thing, though, is that it seemed to get "old" fast. It has that immediate visceral appeal but the downside to that is that it doesn't stand up to many repeated listenings. Is this an accurate thing to say, folks? I'm gonna spin it again to see if it still sounds fresh.
  5. Well put. Describes me as well.
  6. Free tunes? Sign me up!
  7. Once again: thank you everyone.
  8. Thanks for the suggestion, Brad. It's not like I badly need to rid myself of this cd! I've got it offered on half for $75, but I still think that's too high. I'll have to lower that to make it halfway reasonable. To me, no cd is worth that much and I'd be happy to do what I can to contribute to lower prices. B)
  9. Happy Birthday, Weizy. Make sure you start posting in politics again. Johnny's going astray without your wize counsel (pun and spelling intended.)
  10. Hey thanks everyone. Ouch! Those 4s paired together make me feel old. O to be 24 again with what I know now...
  11. Pats defeated Tennessee earlier this season, but I'd prefer to avoid them in the playoffs. Right now, they're looking really good; not that we aren't; but we don't dominate games like that. We just hang around and win on smarts and discipline. Still, we should be getting our players back in the upcoming weeks. Too bad Rosey Colvin and David Patton and Mike Compton are out for the season. Frankly, it's not Tennessee that really worries me; it's the Chiefs. Aint nobody getting near them. Tennesse can probably hang with them best score-for-score. We would just have to outsmart them with our defence but I just can't see any team with a mediocre offense like we have staying in the game with those scoring monsters.
  12. Newspapers said Jones weighed 187 lbs when he arrived on Thursday. He made 175 lbs at the weigh in. It's a miracle he didn't get k.o.'d! How you going to have anything left when you've got to lose that much weight so fast? It's not like the guy was a blimp at 187 lbs.
  13. Good comments about Prestige and soul jazz. Here are some other favorites: Willis Jackson: Bar Wars Grant Green, "Carryin On" Roland Kirk, "Volunteered Slavery" and one of the best: Grant Green, "His Majesty King Funk."
  14. Can't take half my posts seriously, Kulu, but thanks for owning up. I shall now undercut you with $95! I'm serious: if these sessions go so high then I'd be happy to work out a deal with someone and offer mine for significantly less. Kulu will get his $100 one day perhaps...
  15. So that's the secret to a good diet, Tony!!
  16. Pats always get dissed and overlooked. You're no different!
  17. Is that so? Okay everyone: you can have mine for $75!! Now how am I going to find Vols 1 and 3??
  18. In a day of upsets, I happened to pick the game where the favorite won. Pretty pathetic!! I have a special interest in the AFC East, because my team is the Patriots. Looks like the Dolphins are really fading and are in big trouble. I expect that the Bills will be our closest rival and they're three games back. The Bills are a good team, especially defensively, but they've got big problems in their offense.
  19. I've only got Vol 2, Abutillon, and I love it; so you've got one more than I; but there's some wacko on half.com who is offering it for $100. I assume he added an extra zero there, and meant $10. B)
  20. Listened a couple more times. Still not enough to come up with any kind of educated analysis, but I can see why Rooster likes this one so much. This is good music for sure. The last track is the most "out," and I don't care for that so much, but the others are terrific. Interesting with Kenny Barron on piano. He plays wonderfully, but one wouldn't imagine that he would have been a good fit going in. As it stands, his contributions are a welcome addition. Shaw is his usual brilliant self. Washington seems to be really exploring. The TOJC recording seems nice enough though I would have preferred to be able to hear the piano a little louder relative to the drums, but I see that Rudy did this one. Good drumming by Joe Chambers. I'll continue to listen to this disc which seems to promise so much.
  21. Great list SS; especially since I haven't heard several of them. Same is true with Underground's suggestions. You guys are giving me things to look for in the future.
  22. Agree, Jim. Chuck: you in one of those crusty moods again??
  23. I know that labels such as "soul jazz" are subjective and very broad, but I'm beginning to exlpore some of this type of music from the late 60s and early 70s. Two sessions that stick in my mind right now are Reuben Wilson, "Love Bug," and Charles Earland, "Black Talk." Can't do much better than these two as representatives of "soul jazz" at its best. Let's hear your recommendations.
