  1. Can anybody comment on this? AMG doesn't really give them favorable reviews.
  2. Timely topic, I was gonna post about this. The hinge to my Woody Shaw Mosaic is BADLY damaged beyond repair. What are the chances that Mosaic might be able to help me out on this one? Would they have any leftovers gathering dust somewhere? Maybe I'll just email them and find out
  3. Hello, Sent an email re: Ken McIntyre UA Sessions. Thanks! Bill
  4. Thanks! I've been heavily engrossed in Hitman II for the past month. Tough as hell but so far I've managed to get to the Basement Killing level, where you have to waste the computer hacker. One of the best things about this game is all of the different ways you can accomplish the objectives. Certainly a good deal of replay value. The new one is coming out sometime in '04. It's going to be called Hitman III: Viva Las Vegas. Can't wait for that one. Silenced Ballers rock!!
  5. Genuardi's Food Markets makes great bagels. They are expensive though. Check out this site Bagels Some tasty soundin' recipes here.
  6. My dad makes killer lox. Slab on side with cream cheese, top with slices of salmon, sliced onion and fresh ground pepper.....BAM!!!
  7. YES!! 'Isotope' comes to mind as well. I went back to the local store here and picked up Power to the People. I think the version of 'Black Narcissus' on here is the original and having never heard it before, I was pleasantly surprised. BTW this album is great. Herbie, Ron and Jack are in the zone, and the title track is something else.
  8. I saw this the other day. It's been reset because of the popularity and was up to half a mil when I checked in yesterday!!
  9. WOO HOO!! Mother Ship!!! I forgot about this! I hope it sounds better than the Mosaic.
  10. ditto
  11. Thanks for asking. Weeell parts of it were good. The sit down interview with the staffing coordinator went really well. That took place after the musical/performance competency. That on a whole, well.....for various reasons could have and should have gone a whole lot better. My general musicianship competency went well (chord recognition, rhythmic competency, basic piano/accompaniment skills ) Also, a mock first instrumental flute lesson with one of the interviewers went really well. The things I didn't do too well: My trumpet playing has been on an ongoing comeback for the past 3 months months after about a 6 month hiatus of sorts. Not easy and not fun to recover from something like that, so my trumpet performance for them was a bit shoddy. Also my secondary instrument performance was a bit shaky. They supplied me with a clarinet and flute and they had some 'simple' music for me to play on each. Now, I own a flute and can play it reasonably well at a beginning level, and I should have brought it w/ me cuz the thing that they had me play on SUCKED. It was brand spanking new, hardly broken in and really stiff, so my attacks were really bad. Clarinet, well let's not go there. I also feel like I'm a bit cursed. I graduated in 2002 but didn't have certification to teach and had to get some type of job anyway to make ends meet. Naturally, they asked, "Soooo...what have you been doing for a year?" I told them the truth. They did acknowledge though, that I did my student teaching at Shawmont, up in Roxborough, really good instrumental music program with a GREAT teacher. She was a great supervising teacher. Plus my student teaching supervisor for this placement was the former instrumental supervisor for the district several years ago, and his guidance was priceless. Therefore I do have several things that I can speak for at this point. To be eligible for the position I need to accumulate a score of 80.00 acquired from all parts of the interview, essay and musical competency. I'll find out by mail in about two weeks. I'm not holding my breath but I'm not counting myself out either. More than anything, I'm looking for more possibilities and upping my preparation as we speak so the second interview can go better than the first. I want to teach dammit!! Peace!
  12. Funny, after all the sessions that people have mentioned, I have many of them, just have never lended any substantial thought to Joe's playing on them. That's gonna change. I think OUR THING is in my top 5 favorite BNs. Great compositions and playing all 'round. Andrew Hill lends a particular flavor I like too. The stuff he did w/ Woody Shaw, is any of it available outside the Milestone box? I've never heard of the LIghthouse date. Also, I saw POWER TO THE PEOPLE the other day in a local store. Might have to be the next purchase. I remember it being mentioned on the old BNBB
  13. I hear the version of 'Beatrice' on this one is excellent.
  14. I've been really latching onto his sound and have lately been enjoying his contributions to several BN sessions such as Little Johnny C, The Sidewinder, Unity and several others. I just picked up In 'n Out and plan to spin it shortly. Thing is, I haven't been able to verbalize what I like yet cuz my listening experiences w/ him are still inconsistent. I've also barely scratched the surface of what the man accomplished. Please post your feeling here about whether you like Joe and why. In addition, what non-BN recordings should a newbie focus on to get the full picture? :rsmile: :rsmile:
  15. Jackie Mclean - Capuchin Swing Eric Dolphy - Outward Bound Sam Rivers - Dimensions & Extensions Lee Morgan - Infinity, Sixth Sense
  16. Sounds like a good album, though someone got a little too happy with the word art toolbar. Eggghh
  17. I love this album but certainly don't particularly care for this cover all that much. Not the worst but not the best either
  18. I might be the only one who kinda liked the covers.
  19. Could be musicboy
  20. hmmm...I wonder if that means all RVGs If so I gotsa some shopping to do.
  21. Another striking loss to the music world. RIP
  22. If you don't have it already, look for Turrentine's 'The Spoiler'. I'm a big fan of this one, as it's in the same ballpark as the Pearson. All the arrangements are by Duke too.
  23. Peter, A good friend of mine in the district(he's a brass teacher) told me last week that 4-5 itinerant instrumental positions are expected to open up. He gave me the number to call and I found out the tests and interviews are being given the first two weeks of the month. Not sure of the exact schools or areas, but it doesn't really matter to me right now. I hope I can break a leg. It's been quite a bit time since my student teaching experience ( little more than a year ) I've done as much as I can to keep up and study but I'm not as fresh as I used to be. I do have great recommendations though and I am confident in my abilities if I am fortunate enough to acquire a position. Hopefully I can come across this way to whomever will be giving the interview.
